Hey guys, been doing some research and looking up different products and have come up with this list - Some prices may not be quite accurate, some pricing I've had a stab at. Keep in mind it's a ZC and I have 10 grand to play with. LOANS ROCK! :p
Engine
Arias Pistons - $600
Crower Rods - $600
New gaskets, seals, ported & polished, balanced crank - $1000?
1/2-sized radiator - $300
Turbo
RLD-Fab Ramshorn Manifold - $900
Garret GT2860RS (0.63? A/R) External Gated - $1500
TiAL 38mm Wastegate - $200
TiAL 14.5psi Spring - $40
Intercooler (600x300x70) & Piping - $500
HKS SSQV BOV - $200
440cc / 550cc Sat Injectors - $400
Spark Plugs - $50
Walbro Fuel Pump - $150
Water & Oil lines - $400
Exhaust - 3" Dump-pipe, 3" Cat, 3" Mendral Bent, (Resonator & Muffler Undecided) - $500
Management
OBD0 - OBD1 conversion - $400
Hondata & tuning - $1000
Labour - $?
That comes to around $9000 without labour. Let me kow what you think and what I have wrong, what I don't have & don't need etc. Not too sure how much labour will be either. Hoping it won't be over the 2 grand mark. I haven't put any thought into breaks either - they may have to wait a little bit :|
Cheers.

Nice list. I am going RLD-fab manifold too. =)
Oil cooling?
Water cooling?
Its going to be a built engine. Is 440cc injectors enough?

dopn't forget the water and oil lines for the turbo

19-04-2007, 01:29 PM
Pistons and rods will probably total together just over 1k... that is if you dont buy off some overpriced idiot
oh yeh also oil and water lines for turbo + fittings (speed flow etc)
Injectors will be more then what you have budgeted

440cc should be enough, but i would probably get 550, since you will be using 14.5psi daily.

Oil and water lines I'm guessing won't be too much? I'll leave that up to the installer to decide. Also, I wasn't too sure about the injectors - i didnt want to go TOO big. what yous think.
Cheers Sexc86 I'll adjust my pricing :p

Yeah RLD-Fab looks the shit. And great price compared to Full-race too. Will hopefully be ordering it early next week.

what power output do you want?
injectors will be around the $400-$600 mark for a set of decent ones.

Cool thanx.
Yeh, RLD looks great.
I don't recomend Full-Race anymore. Their customer service is very poor. All my questions/queries got answered in 1 day with RLD. It had been a month with Full Race and still my questions were not answered.
Hence RLD got the job for my car.

Just wondering deano, you would have to use a different exhaust system for your car when its all finnished?

to get the desired power from a ZC, you need the following.
Forged pistons anything under 9:1 comp
Rods
Knifed crankshaft
Head work, and the ZC head has plenty you can do with it.
550CC Injectors
bosch 040 pump
b&m fuel reg,
cam gears
stock camshafts.
larger throttle body
good intercooler
m&w ignition setup
and about 15psi and a good engine management system, i run emanage ultimate,

no its going to be N/A, should make around 230-240whp, running 12.8:1 comp.
Quad throttle bodies, jenvey, car hopefully should be ready in 6-8 months, motor is getting built in the US.

What about two 7.25psi wastegate springs... With a controller this would enable either 7.25 or 14.5?
And this turbo:

With this exhaust spec - T3 4 bolt outlet (external wastegated 0.63 or 0.82 only)
And Ebay cooler for $200? http://cgi.ebay.com.au/FMIC-600x300x76-TURBO-INTERCOOLER-VL-RB30-SKYLINE-GTR_W0QQitemZ200099217755QQihZ010QQcategoryZ43807Q QrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem#ebayphotohosting

Klay,
Just get a 7psi spring and get a duel boost controller. I got a GFB reactor.
With a 7psi spring you can adjust both your Low and High boost setting. With 7psi being you lowest level.

Hey Deano,
Any other reasons? I don't question your decision, but I know for me personally it comes down to Quality, which Full Race have. I wouldnt want to keep the fact they dont reply to an email from me getting a quality part. Do you have any more info on RLD Manifolds?
My turbo kit has the FR Manifold on the top, so I'm curious.
Cheers

Hey man,
I do not support any company that treats customers the way that Full-Race does.
I am not going to wait weeks at a time to get an answer. They are a big company, they should have sales people at their doors inviting customers to come in. Instead they are in the back, playing cards while customers walk in and out without word.
Not very good business is it?
All good though, they have done me a favor.
Do not doubt RLD manifolds, they are up there with FR. And for a much cheaper price.

Yeh go more than 150fwkw if your gunna spend the money on internals. 200-250fwhp with good tuning can be reliable with a completly stock d series.
If 150fwkw is all you want, and your engine is in a healthy condition, i wouldnt bother cracking apart the block, save it for when its ready to rebuilt or you wanna up the power.
Have a look at vitara pistons, everyone in the US uses them in boosted d series engines making 400-500WHP. There cheap as aswell ie, less than $240US
EDIT - vitara pistons go for around $140 US:eek: no wonder why so many people use them for d series builds.

Depending on turbo choice, i see no reason why you couldnt go anywhere up to 400-500whp (with big lag). 150kw would be a very small aim for an engine that could handle alot more. youve got all the support systems needed for big power. Its all down to turbo choice.
Go visit turbod16.com plenty of great info on turbo d16s quite a few very high power d16s on there!
If your doing internals and everything else up to scratch then 250kw up dude. :D
if he gets it sleeved.
Are they that bad on the D's?
Nope, the majority of people above 400fwhp are on stock sleaves with just pistons and rods.
http://www.turbod16.com/viewtopic.php?t=4140
BTW i recon get larger injectors 550ccs or more, they wont cost barly anything more.

yeh but hes got a standard head, and not many people make gear for the d16zc, most has to be custom made gear... very very $$$
People have reached over 400fwhp on stock d16 heads (how reliably i dont know).... Have a look at the above posted thread from turbod16.com.
250kw is easily achieveable without touching the head.
Im slowly peicing together parts for a turbo system capable of around 350whp, ill have it tuned for about 230whp on a completly stock block (with a good tune people have run this level as a daily driver on completly stock d's for 2yrs+).
While getting used to this power this ill slowly be building a block with rods and vitara pistons and when finished swaping it over and tuning for 350whp+.
Reguarding injector size, id go for 550cc at least, even though there not needed for your current goals, having room to up the power if you decide to in the future without having to fork over another $400-600 again is a huge bonus! Theres a saying, the biggest problem with boost, is that you always want more..
Also add a 2bar/3bar map sensor to your list;)
See http://www.rceng.com/technical.htm#WORKSHEET to work out whats required reguarding injector size.
