hey,
thinking about puttin a k24 in my eg.. ( i can get a halfcut cheap ) just curious as to weather or not a stock k24 is going to be sufficiant or would i need a k20 head to really see performance! i know the 24 will have loads more torque, but is it powerfull enough in its own right??
anyone done this in an eg civ on here?

Man check out a honda_b_blastin's build in gallers, 2 years in the makeing
Very very expensive build provided you can even find the parts...
depends also what you consider cheap, i have never herd of just a k20a engine for anything less then 5 - 6 grand and thats only the beginning....
i think you need to evaluate your budget and your power goals as what your talking about IMO is nothing less then a 15 - 20grand project (done properly) if you are useing other people labour too... maybe a bit less if you get some good deals along the way, and do alot of the work yourself...
also i dont think there would be much point doing just a k24 conversion, you would really need to combine it with a k20a head
anyway good luck ! hope you get the project off the ground
if you got honda accord euro k24a3 , you dont really need to change the head. Im in the process of dropping k24a to my EG hatch

yeah if it's from a euro i wouldnt bother messing about with the head. in the small chasis of the eg it would be very nice :)

so there is a fair bit of a difference in the crv and euro k24's..
coz i've been offered a k24 (complete halfcut) from a crv for under 2k.. which to me sounds to good to be true..
if i was to use this, and put a k20 head on it and make it a frank motor it should make up the difference?
i seen euro front cuts for a lil over $4k
they can do low 13s in EGs with minimal mods

you also need a dc5 6speed gearbox with that, dont know if anyone has done a full euro engine/gearbox swap yet. I've been in an eg with stock Euro k24/dc5 6speed and 1st gear is like driving in the wet, 2nd gear is a bit better but the most concerning part is the 7100rpm redline feels like the fun is just happening then the limiter kills it, but despite of this its still a monster to drive and very quick, rolling torque feels like a V8.
So if your a rpm junkie you need to build up that k24 = Dollars

cnt go wrong wit the k24..im in da process of doing a full-house k24 stroked to 2.6..they're a awesome engine...

CRV engine == K24A1 block has a lower static compression ratio (9.6) and in my POV it's less optimum for K24/K20 frank motor. Perhaps upgrading to a higher comp. piston like the Accord Euro pistons (10.5) is more suitable for the setup.
IMO, it something worthwhile to look into...
also, u need k20 oil pump, K20 etc etc...
what would the approx cost of a half cut k24 from a euro.. and then the installation into an EK.. and the power stock

Doing all the work yourself, you'll be looking AT LEAST $10G minimum installed using the cheapest parts, and finding 2nd hand bits yourself.
Doing all the work yourself, using Quality parts AT LEAST $12G installed.
Getting a workshop to do the job, could be anywhere between $12G - $15G+.
It's an expensive root, but if you really want it, this is what it cost.
kk thanks :) wanna move to sydney so you can do the conversion if i ever get it done?

hahaha yea all i can say is i dont regret one bit of time spent on my car or money it is the best sleeper lol...
just wish was rich lol...
hahaa
just if some one is doing it to a delsol like me then you will have a rear mount problem as they arnt the same as eg civic rear mount and they all say it is but till they get down and dirty they will figure it out it aint the same so alittle bit of custom work is needed for the rear mount..

if not hasport, must be Hybrid or AVID....if not Custom??
EGBOY
27-04-2007, 06:08 PM
custom.. i make them myself! can barely tell the difference to hasport ..but i can sit my engine how i like it.. i can have it sitting a little lower to clear the bonnet with ease ( and yes i know i'll have to make a custom sump... was going to anyway.. lol
mr_vtec
27-04-2007, 10:54 PM
yuo dont need a custom sump...lol
EGBOY
28-04-2007, 05:34 PM
oh ok.. well i was told that they sat pretty low in the bay and my mounts will be slightly lower than the hasport ones.. guess i'll play it by ear!

custom sump wont help with ground clearance because your oil pickup and oil pump will limit how much you can raise the sump bowl, cant do to much about it the k series is a tall motor, just modify your bonnet its much easier.

Hasport mounts might make it easier but does it make it better? For instance has anyone taken a look at the driveshaft angles of a H22A in an EG with Hasport mounts? I don't know if the K series mounts put the engine in a similar position or not.
Just something to think about next time you do a conversion. :)

has there been anything new on this car...
EGBOY

nah nothing really worth mentioning! started making and measuring the mounts up.. damn euro mounts r HUGE!!!
ive removed the engine and computer from the wrecked car! thats about it! just kinda tidying things up so i can get rid of the euro body, it taking up to much space!
time is hard come by coz i work 2 jobs.. so what time i have is spent on the car or gettin pissed! lol and or at the same time!
ive decided that i'm going to tear down the motor and build it! so it may be a few weeks off befor it gets close to the car!

You might like to have a look at this article at Temple of VTEC:
http://www.vtec.net/articles/view-article?page_number=1&article_id=401733
They had a play with interchanging bits between the K20A and the K24A in their TSX (Euro). It might give you a bit of an idea of what's worth doing...
Also, you might like to know that the DC5R LSD is apparently a straight swap into a Euro.

Yer i went through aloty of driveshafts with a H22 EG using Hasport mounts..alot of angle.
Hasport K series EG..shafts are very straight..soon see if i have issues:thumbsup:
