Hi everyone I'm Leon. Got a 1998 EK GLi Sedan at the start of the year, only had 55,000kms on it so I was pretty happy about that. Always wanted an EK over the other Civics(even compare to the new ones).
Haven't done anything to it apart from a new headunit. Been researching alot in the past months for planning the future of my car. Money is a big issue for me since i'm a fulltime uni student so i'm planning to earn as much as i can during the holidays to fund my project.
I'm tossing between either making the car into a sleeper first or doing the exterior first. Any suggestions?

Welcome to OH zeus civic... If you have'nt already fitted a performance intake and cat back exhaust system, these would be the first engine modifications I would make as you can use these parts on your factory motor, or on an engine conversion.
As far as exterior upgrades go it's a personal thing, most common mod would be
to purchase a front lip spolier that attaches to your OEM front bar, drop the ride
height and find a set of wheels that tickle your fancy and suit the look your after.
As I said it's a personal thing what you do to your car but I hope I have given you some ideas.

Yea i planned my build up in stages. Either an engine swap or turbo charging is in consideration. THe engine swap would be either a B18C or H22A but from the looks of costs maybe B18C would be ideal. Also converting from Auto to Manual will be done the same time as engine swap.
But if I turbo charge the D16, then i'll need to do the transmission seperately.
For exterior I planned to have Angel eyes Head light, a Buddy Club front bar. Wheels would be 5 spoke still deciding on either 15inch or 16inch(is 16 legal on an EK in Victoria?).

hiya zeus_civic. your plan looks good. the buddy club front bar is a good look, might as well go with some side skirts (and maybe buddy club rear bar). like Jarkz has mentioned, its up to your personal liking. but I personally wouldnt fit a FB without side skirts (u can get away without an aftermarket rear bar). depends how low u want to go as well. oh and there are so many civics with the BC look - here in brissy anyway....u can try a different look if u want.
kings springs = good. then again depends how much u want to pay. others prefer coilovers, but be prepared to pay the price. what some peeps do is change the springs and the shocks, which is still alot cheaper than coilovers.
Angel lights = beware, the halos actually die after a while. mine dont work and ask other members, im sure that they are experiencing the same thing.
RIMS = i would go at least 17s wid low profile tyres, but depends again on how much u want to pay and your desired look.
babysteps i guess...if you havent got much money like me. for now u can settle for 4-2-1 extractors, change all the piping to 2.25 or 2.5 (whatever is best for your car - ask the muffler people), get a sports cat converter installed, more piping and out to an aftermarket muffler (canon or something). oh and u might need to get a flex pipe installed. u will feel a significant change as the car can breathe alot easier...instead of sipping through a narrow straw.
ENJOY and let us know how u get along.....photos would be cool

THanks for the help everyone. Haven't seen many EKs with Buddyclubs in Melb but yea i think i'll go with BC for the full kit.
As for lowering I really wouldn't go too low since there are quite abit speed bumps near my house and my driveway aint that flat.
For Rims it's still legal issue. If it's legal i would definitely go with either 16 or 17s but then again if i go with 15s tires would be slightly cheaper.
I might start with exterior first since i have to look at the car everyday..
After reading about how many KMs ppl get from one tank. I think my car needs a service. It's only getting 350KM per tank.:(
defect-99 was the face-lift so my car is the pre-facelift version. I do prefer mine better thou ;).
