Hey man, i would not rule one out as a mod project.
My first car was an 88 teg and it was awesome!
Sort of the same deal as you are saying, really good nick and all that.
Look, you can lower them a good couple of inches, the front sussy is torsion bar, so all you have to do is jack the car up and wind them down. Mine were at the lowest setting and i had king spring "lows" (not super low) on the back!
You will find that this makes a fairly even lowering, as if you were to put in super lows, then the back would be lowe than the front could go! A nice set of wheels makes all the difference oin these cars and a bit lower gives them a far more agressive look, they definately do not look "funny".
There was also a GPX edition of this car, which had a modest bodykit on it, side skirts, plus front and rear lips for the bars. They are fairly rare, but if you can source one, then it would be well worth the trouble.
As for engine and what not, they are a simalar layout to the CRX, in that they have a D16A engine, meaning that it is not a hard conversion to put a B series engine in there, as someone previously stated!
Another thing you can do to clean it up a bit is remove the rubber spoiler, only this will leave some holes.

Anyway, i think i've s#!td on enough, If you want the specs on this car, go to www.honda.com.au, go to owners, then previous models, this will have a listing including specs and pics of not only yours, but the GPX edition i was speaking about!

they are awesome cars :)
r ember fronts don't have springs they use torsion bars so you can adjust the height at front ur self but i would advise you to change shocks because it will bottom out if you don't i t will bottom out
back is springs and that can be done easy

as for engine they are good and make 125hp :)
used to have one and it was awesome i loved it

eheh yeah a bit :)

torsion bars are cool actually you can get heavy duty ones that will go super low and be more stiff but only out of usa ;)

engine wise they will last for ages like all Honda engines and have more poke than you think :)

i will try to find sum pics for you ;)

I got one. I love it. The lil old D16A is a bit of a joke but there is plenty of swaps you can do to them. The easiest is the B16a from a CRX. Its the most straightfoward because of wiring similarities and cable transmission. I am planning to swap to a b16 as soon as i find either a decently priced halfcut or a wrecked one locally. The upside is, as soon as u convert to a B16, you may upgrade your block to a B20 or similar, thus increasing your scope for power production.

The suspension is pretty basic, with torsion bars up front and beam axle in the rear. I took mine up the Adelaide hills the other night (initial D styles FTW!!) and had a ball. Only has upgraded suspension and pads with stock motor, and it was plenty of fun.

Heres some mad 1G teg info you WILL find handy:

and heres the global 1g teg website. Have a search there, pleny of good info!!
