Looking to get a muffler for my FD2. Those who have a FD or FD2 Civic and has changed the muffler, could you name the brand/model and whether its a perfect fit (bolt-on to flangeback). Ive seen a few with magnaflows and xforce but those are universal mufflers. Im more after a specific muffler for thsi model. I was looking for a remus muffler but i have given up as there is no muffler made for this model car. Even if i have to cut/weld, it will not fit the area.

Thanks in advanced

I am sure that mugen would make an exhaust as they wouldnt have put a stock system on their dominator civic.

sorry, forgot to add, other than mugen. Preferrably a dual tip like the stock. If only mugen made a dual tip

Reason Remus hasn't got one is the civic in europe is the FK and therefore incompatible with our FD.
BTW, read from Singapore site that there is a mugen for the type r which shld fit

Other than the muffler part, What is the difference to the stock? Bigger pipings? Or....?

i got a xforrce 2.25inch full catback exhuast. its mandrael bent btw. The muffler has a 3inch tip which sounds awesome with minimal annoying drone.

are you looking at changing to a full catback or just the muffler?

there are other brands out there like HKS,mugen,RPS (stuff u buy from autobahn lol). but imo xforce is good value for money.

Any info on the remus model? Whats the part number number? Is it a perfect fit or cutting/welding required?

Is yours a universal muffler? I wouldnt even know where to start looking for a full catback, what brand/model? For now im looking for just the muffler but if someone could list me a few options, then i will consider. But options are ones made specifically for my car so i can just plug the sensors back in without having to drill/weld/cut holes.

Thanks for any info

Can someone confirm if this Mugen Type R exhaust system will fit our FD2? Is there anyone i can contact to find out?
Will it have sockets for our sensors to plug into?
Where it says 110 with a circle and a slash through it, does this mean its 11cm diameter for the tip?

cheers

its a Xforce muffler along with the catback. i got it for $750 along with installation. there are other brand of mufflers like buddyclub, mugen, remus etc.

but imo i woundn't pay 1g for a muffler:p but if u have the cash then thats a diff story.

The type R one comes with catback and muffler. Just wondering if this one will fit our FD2?

With your Xforce, i was informed that there isnt one made for our model. Did they do some cutting and welding on yours?

I know theres other brands. Initially i was going for REMUS, but since they dont have one for FD2, ive given up and hoping that Type R one will fit

Does anyone know if the (US) Civic Si exhaust system (catback-muffler) is the same our FD2?

i'm using remus titanium muffler on my fd1 now.. it's not bolt on, i went to an exhaust shop and they make the piping and weld it to the muffler. i can't remember the exact part no. but it is the universal titanium model with dual tip

if you want a bolt on with dual tip i think fujitsubo has one for fd1, Fujitsubo Legalis R, but not sure whether it will fit fd2 plus it could be somewhere near mugen price range

here's some pic I got from other place

I got an a cat back exhaust fitted at my local exhaust shop. Its got 2" mandrel bent piping from cat bolted onto a xforce muffler with twin 3" tips. Reason for going 2" piping so there was no annoying droning for normal driving. It sounds awesome but didnt cost an arm and leg :D

Did it require cutting and welding? Or perfect fit?

perfect fit cause the x force muffler was a straight bolt on to the piping. so if i wanted to fit the stock muffler again i could do that by unscrewing a couple screws and walla.

^^dezza... are you in Melb? just curious as I'm looking for an exhaust set... I would like one that is only loud when stepped on and very close to stock when not stepped on.

Apparently the fujitsubo legalis r dual tip (pic shown above) is like that. Its only available for the R18 (perfect bolt on). Apparently the one for the FD2 will be available soon, but no info on it and dealers dont know anything about it either. I think ill get this one

Also, does anyone know if the FD1 and FD2 share the same exhaust design? Meaning, if an exhaust catback will fit an FD1, it too will fit on an FD2 - vice versa.

Thanks

FD1 is 1.8L while FD2 sport is 2.0L. Generally speaking for 1.8L it is ideal to fit 2.25 piping.

For 2.0L it should be 2.5inch piping. For 2.0 + turbo it can be 3inches onwards.

But in terms of the bay area where the exhaust sits, are they both the same design? So if i got an exhaust made for FD1 regardless of pipe size, it will fit the FD2 no probs?

andyhui01

^don't think it will fit... FD1 is R18A, FD2 is a K series engine... completely different design... but if you're just talking about the muffler, it may fit... just not the entire exhaust.

Shimian

So the underside of the car where the exhaust sits is different (FD1 vs FD2)?
