as the post suggests..... I'm a proud owner of a limited Euro in Milano red. mmm. in manual. mmmmmmmmmmm (=

that being said, this isn't my first post on this forum.

but yes, I would get round to taking pictures of the car soon.... seeing how it decided to rain over the weekend, and hence there are a few spots of water here and there, plus the occassional layer of dust that seems to love gathering on all cars I own after it rains.

but yes, hello guys, and.... urh... yeah. (=

PS: I'm in Melbourne, and I've been hunting around the forum for information regarding car washing, specifically those DIY car wash shops that you pop coins into etc.... and I was wondering if anybody would recommend doing that for the new car. opinion is relatively split down the line, but as the water restrictions/place of my residence have it, I can't really have my own wash in my own apartment block. don't think my BodyCorp people will be too pleased with the pool of water around the car porch, along with the water company being not too pleased about it either....

hence.... any solutions?

Welcome aboard. Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm....limited Euro...mmmmmm....nice!

I strongly believe that washing your car with your own wash solution with a microfibre mitt is the best way for an enthusiast. If you've ever gone to one of those wash bays where you pay by coins, you'll prolly be doing more harm than good by using their recycled water and nasty brushes on your new ride. Most likely come out of there with a heap of swirls.

A compromise would be going to those wash bays (at night when there is less traffic - so you can take your time) and bringing your buckets and whatnot along, use their water and take your time gently washing your car with your products and mitts. Then rinse and dry using a microfibre towel.

OR, go to a friends house and do it in their driveway & get them to help while you're at it :p

yeah I used to clean my previous car *a Falcon* with them brushes. just to ensure that the damage levels were reduced, I'd spray the brush a few times with the high pressure hose...

but I'm pretty certain that most of these places do not allow for bucket washing.... or at least the signage within the bays say so.

but yeah, it did cross my mind to do that, although I'm quite law abidding *not suggesting that everyone else who does the bucket thing at the washing bays isn't. (=* I was rather apprehensive about it.

and the last bit. nyuk nyuk.
but if I'm not mistaken, water restriction levels still forbid me to use anything from the mains. and my friends would ask me to do their cars for them while I'm at it. :(

welcome :)

yeah i would just go to the car wash to DIY... if u have the time.. go later at night @ the 24 hour ones.. so you can use your bucket.. because during business hours... the owners/employers are usually there...pretty much all of the DIY washes do not allow use of own buckets, etc.
but hey use them for their water and high pressure rinse off.. they still make money??
if not do the whole.. spray the crap outta the brush prior to using it.---

Are you not allowed to use a watering can? or buckets? It should be fine as long as you don't use a hose connected to the mains.

I'm pretty certain that that is the case over here.... unless I'm grossly mistaken.

and oh. quick question. am I right to say that the bucket wash system you folks are suggesting at those DIY car wash yards.....

you use your own shampoo? or the ones provided for? to my understanding of what I've read through the forum.... only thing that I'm actually providing for is my hand, my strength, mitt/sponge, bucket, chamois... and coins obviously. and oh, waxing materials if need be..... but shampoo?

I'd bring my own shampoo. I used to be quite a miser and bring my own buckets FULL of water...so i only paid for the rinse at the end....hehehe....so sad.

I'd suggest buying the big bottle of Meguiars Gold class or NXT wash if you're buying off the shelf.
