Hi
I have the MY06 Euro Lux in Graphite Pearl with the new 17" wheel design and I was thinking that it might be nice to have the Disc Brake Calipers painted Red or maybe Blue sort of Brembo style.
What do you all think about this idea? or :thumbdwn: Have any of you done it for your own cars? If yes what heat resisitant paint did you use? and how did you clean the calipers prior to painting?
Thanks heaps.

brake and caliper paint
buy it from any auto shop like supercheap/repco/peps/autobarn

If you go to your local supercheap auto, repco, autobarn, etc, there should be brake cleaner products (ask at counter) and again ask at the counter to show you where the brake spray paint are (comes in a variety of colours). I'm sure high temp engine enamel can also work too.

Before applying the paint, you can use the brake cleaner or degreaser (make sure its not flammable) and scrub the caliper clean. Then mask anything off that you don't want to be painted and spray a couple layers of light coats until desired.

A proper job is by taking the caliper off etc. The colour you want to do also depends on the colour of your car. Red can suit all colours but graphite pearl I am not too sure. Try some photoshop before you go set forth on this task.

Be aware however that you may run a risk in doing this mod - affecting the brakes performance if you don't mask off properly.

Hi there,
Thanks heaps for the links to the DIY's. I'll have a look and see if I think it is worthwhile doing. I think maybe blue against the Graphite Pearl might be the go. Red is pretty common these days.

I've done it to my EG, not euro.. I use red brembo colour.. I dont really care what, I dont want to be like brembo.. just make the same colour of my recaro... :D and I use VHT paint which is quite good.. smooth.. dont forget to smooth and clean the caliper really good.. and to buy the paint, autobarn a bit expensive... so I bought in Burson which is pretty good deal around..

Cheers..

Yap, Red is too common, I painted mine blue as well and my euro is also graphite.

i think it looks alright :p

did mine in a day, front and rears, removed the Calipers
also put the new discs on & new pads at the same time!

at first i bought VHT brake caliper paint which i strongly advise against there cans are terribly made and every time ive tried to use them they end up stuffing up

Ending up using a different brand caliper paint, cleaned them first just by scrubbing them with a brush and using degreaser

i like the end result

id advise against red with graphite pearl, blue i like

VHT paint didnt work for me, cans stuffed up! it just ran itself out of paint, wasnt usable, cant remember the paint i used now, it was from a local autoone store $12 a can, only needed one can

i used DBA 4000 series rotors on the front, standard at the rear.

I use VHT and fine.. but dont know later how's the can will be.. i use 1 can too.. btw, is the paint you use the heat resistant one? if you can let us know what brand is that.. and how's ur opinion for DBA 4000 series? is it good?

For brembo cover or spoon cover caliper.. I've seen this before.. there are some seller overseas... but they look a bit thin tho... IMO.. :D

Agreed. There's next to no clearance between a stock rim and the front caliper anyway. Presumably you'd need aftermarket rims with a substantailly different offset in order to fit a cover?

Besides, IMHO, if you're going to upgrade your brakes, then actually upgrade them rather than just dressing them up with a fake cover.

Yea.. its something like those stuffs, cant seem to find it in my magazines, maybe throw already.

Anyway if just simply change the piston/calipers to bigger ones or more pistons but not changing the master brake pump, the brakes will feel spongy and braking might be worse off, cause the same preasure is now spread to more area (more piston)....

Painted the front calipers on mine with Red Engine Enamel Paint.

Decided to go red because blue would look a bit strange on a Black Euro.

i painted my euro accord blue. i didn't take out the calipers, just sprayed right on it. i thought it looked good.

i could of taken off the calipers to do a decent/proper job, but chances are no one is going to go right up to my calipers and start being critical about the paint job you did, so there really isn't any point of doing a long job that no one else will ever notice.
