Dunno if you have to take the valves out. They'd have to come out through the bottom so the head would already have to be off.
well either way i NEED a manual to take off what i need, im not an expert on part names but i no i have to take some of the crap off

not hard to take off the studs, you shouldn't have to undo much to take it off, i'm pretty all you need is a 10mm spanner.

I hope this reply saves you some time and effort.
if you forced the thread in and stripped the thread the bellow wont work
if you overtightend the bolts and snapped them then it will work.
take the rocca caover off, using a pointy nosed screw driver or scriber, manupilate the broken stud anti clcokwise and it will unscrew. I have done this many times and it works well. the broken stud shouldnt be jammed in there. try it before ripping things apart. if it works you will save alot of time and effort.
does this work even if they have been snapped inside the thread (its about 1-2mm down from the top of where the thread starts)
ps more details

if your carefull you can find a nut the same size as the stud, put it on top and hit it with the mig welder. once they are welded you simply put your soccet on the new bolt head.
it may sound dodgy but its worked for me twice with snaped cylinder head bolts on alloy heads
there is no stud sticking out.... cant weld anything to it

you dont have to have anything poking out. you just point the mig down the nut and point to the stud in the hole. the mig will fill in the difference of a few mms and they will be joined.
hmmmm, o well either way still has to come off, u would have to be a nut to start welding inside the engine. i got a manual btw

you still haven't gotten it off yet???
How did you break it in the first place?
Changin valve covers?
haha im at work, the cars at home...
and no i hadnt tightened them up properly first time and so i had an oil leak from the rocker cover, so i was tightening them up

did you wait for it to cool down before you tried to tighten them up further??
It really needs to be dead cold to tighten stuff up.
it had been sitting for quiet a while, o well whats done is done :( judging by the manual its not a huge job to take it off

That's why you find the proper torque settings and use a torque wrench no matter how pissy the bolts seem. I'm assuming it would be the same for most covers - 7lb-ft.
yeah i no stupid me as i didnt have the torque wrech last night. ha this thread can be closed now, i will post my efforts on fixing it in my build up thread

you can normally get away with guessing.
Chances are you didn't put the gasket back in properly and didn't put sealent in the neccessary places.
got them out in about 5 min :D well my older bro did, friggan love that guy, he just wiggled them inside the thread then just kept turning them slowly around till they came out, using a scribe
