hey fellas. might be a stupid Q, but dont shoot me :D
wat year model in AUSDM, had the H22A engine in it? thats if AUSDM even got the H22A question.
i was just wonderin if it possible to get a stock prelude in aus with the H22A already it in.
i kno in JDM, it was around the 92 model (4th gen? cant remember) i think.
yeh anyways thanks, sorry if it sounds like a dumbass Q.

The 97+ ludes have the H22A (VTi-R)...there are a few 92-96 ludes around with them (VTi-R also) but i believe they are all imports. They may have been some later 4th gen VTi-R's sold but i doubt it

There is also a 1989 Honda Prelude with a H22a conversion in it...
He is always at Autosalon and this Prelude is a quickie!
I went to the runs with him the other day!

He should be coming onto this forum!
Conversion price, this is rough estimate is about $8,000 in a Gen 3 lude!

i didnt really look more into it, coz i wont beable to afford the half cut for a while :D

i think they are only good for a mid to low 15 out of the box...

correct me if i am wrong...

and feildings should be good for a low to flat 15...maybe even a 14 with slicks and a good launch!

I got quoted $4500 for half cut and install on a H22 into my 92 Prelude S in Adelaide.

Half cut alone cost $3200, dont know how u can get a H22A half for $1200?! Vtec stuff aint cheap.

As for installation costs, the guys from www.honda-tech.com in the US said it was a direct swap so no custom anything, cos they use pretty much a lot of the same stuff, wish i knew how to do it myself........

Nar, Sam it's white, always on the Cruise's with TommO and Dremen and them!

hmmm haven't seen this one...

wouldn't mind a looksee or even a run with him..

i should arrange a dual H22 run with my mates!

Calvo
25-08-2003, 09:39 PM
yeh ive been told wirin harness etc is all pretty much straight swap.
but i aint jokin man, i saw the half cut at jap wreckers site for $1250!! thats includin delivery. so install tho.
ill see if i can dig it up again.

Jnr Teggy
25-08-2003, 09:41 PM
sounds a little too cheap to me..

do you get to see them running b4 you buy?...is there a warranty?

LUD02C
25-08-2003, 09:43 PM
If they are that cheap, i'll put one in my Prelude :D

Jnr Teggy
25-08-2003, 09:53 PM
and i'd have a crack at getting one into my teg!

Calvo
25-08-2003, 09:56 PM
they posted a foto of it on their site, it was just like a wreckers place. shelves of half-cuts etc.
ill have a dig around and see if i can find it again. just run a search through google. this was december last year, but i dont think price would jump from $1250 to $3k. but it might, lol dont quote me.

poid
26-08-2003, 08:35 AM
It is very, very cheap for a front cut.

The engine alone you can get for $1650 from Honda (so i guess cheaper elsewhere if you can find it), but yeh then you'll have to go digging around for others bits and pieces to install the thing

1.5k for a h22a half cut is bs

http://www.adelaidejap.com.au/front%20cuts.htm
1997 Prelude H22A Si Vtec Manual 122,821kms with 5sp LSD gearbox $3500
BB Prelude H22A Vtec 5sp $3000
BB PRELUDE H22A VTEC MANUAL 117,514KM $3000

and i would be wanting one with less then 100,000

Jnr Teggy

also according to drive.com.au (value my car)
the first Vti-R preludes were release in 94 in AU.
So yeah, h22a's in 1994

Calvo
26-08-2003, 04:01 PM
looks like ill need to find this damn site.
the only other thing which has now got me thinkin us US$, but then again, at the exhange rate $1250 would be round $2k. which still isnt near $3k

poid
26-08-2003, 04:10 PM
I'd love it if you could find the site...cheapest i've seen otherwise was $2250 or so (which is nearly cheap enough for me to be buying one!)

Tessai
26-08-2003, 04:48 PM
Unless its the world's cheapest H22A no one is stupid enough to sell them for $1250! But for that price it could just be the engine not a half cut, transmission included?

A half cut for 3k i would get everything included for a hassle free swap, including front brakes and shocks.

If its a half cut for $1250, WHATS THE WEBSITE OR ADDRESS??????????????????

Calvo

Well Calvo, i know a guy here in Melb who has done a H22A conversion to his Accord and I spoke to him - over email - and he quoted me at 6K to do the job if you're interested instead of getting a Lude...

He did his own conversion on his car and now he's working for a workshop.

In his email, he told me that a half-cut for a 94 H22A lude should go for 2.5K from wreckers or something, can't remember...and it's direct fit, not much modifications to be done. And he's still driving his converted car to this day - it's been a yr plus now....

dont quote me on this... but from what i've heard / been told... the h22a preludes VTiRs were imports 92-96 and the easiest way to tell if one is an import is to look at the back windscreen - if it has a wiper, than it's more than likely an import.

The au VTiR came out in about october 94 and went through until 96.

There were only 86 (i think, being told from another prelude owner) VTiRs made in australia in 1996.

plus the gen 5s :) i liek to vtec!

Im chasing a H22a front cut myself, Adel Jap wants $500 for transport to Brisbane which puts them out of the game. Any other wreckers I should be trying?
