For AUDM, Basically they come into 3 variations:
- Si
- VTi-R
- VTi-R ATTS

The main differences between Si and VTi-R are:
- VTi-R has auto climate control.
- VTi-R has sunroof.
- VTi-R has more power than Si (143kW on VTi-R with H22A4 engine and 148kW on VTi-R with H22Z1 engine compared to 118kW on Si).
- VTi-R has 5 x 114.3 stud size while Si has 4 x 114.3.

The main difference between VTi-R and VTi-R ATTS is the ATTS version does not come in auto tranny, but they provide better handling performance when the car turns :)

For JDM models, they come in 2 variation:
Type SiR - come in 4WS, unlike the AUDM version which has FWD on it, but does not come with ATTS.
Type S - come with ATTS and more powerful H22A engine (163kw), fog light, , unique spoiler, double red stitches on leather seat and tranny handle knob, but does not come with 4WS.

97 - 99 preludes have a h22a engine in them and a 99+ has a h22z in them, these are pretty much the same engines. it has a different letter at the end as these were the later engines that were built cause honda realised, shit we need more h22's...

BINGO!! thanks. thats the infomation i was looking for. I was looking for the differences in VTiR's from 97-99 engines. So h22a and h22z1 are the diference hey?? the h22z1 is more power??? is this correct.????

Why more power? whats the difference in these engines?? was anythuing else different? drivetrain? cosmetics? computer?

they dont have more power. They are just the last models to come out the a4 and Z1 are just about identical Aus never got anything above 143kw

read what was posted. later h22z1 got 148kW, and older h22a4 got 143kW.

Yes they have more power, but only 5kW difference, nothing else but power.
Also need to add that the VTi-R also get leather steering wheel.

But if you're looking for a really powerful 5th gen lude, go for the JDM prelude Type S, they give you 162 kW stock power.

I was about to say dito.... but im still running the engine in so she feels fat lol but i doubt you could realy feel the difference plus im sure the Z1s have 20kg more weight or sumthing..... Good luck finding a Type S there is maybe 5 in the country. Just do all the norm mods inc. headers and youl get 163kw atf

it's easy.. just find a company who can do the jdm import.. type S is not available in australia so it doesn't have to be personal import :p

If it were that easy why isnt there more than 5 type S's in the country? pretty sure they would be overly popular like any imported r32 etc.. they are only 9 years old type S's

i think it just isnt worth importing them. probly cost too much. the money you pay for a type S you may as well work on the standard VTiR to get the same power.

yep.. and i heard nissan s15 is much quicker than any prelude here, including the type s.. but still if u really want somethin stock and really a true lover of prelude, than importing a type s does make sense :)

Nobody seems to know how it happened either. All the parts are interchangable, and no part numbers are different. Oh well. I'll just go out and enjoy my H22Z1 now. :P
