What axles are you using???

Is it a real EG6 or is it a conversion??

If its a conversion you should try to get your hands on some Del Sol axles cause they're made for that engine and the chassis.

b series axles that weak?

barefootbonzai
09-05-2007, 02:31 PM
yeah they shouldn't be that weak. Did you actually snap the shaft or just broke one of the CV's? Cause i've broken a few CV's but have never acutally snaped the shaft.

I got a spare set of ITR shafts if you need it.

Cheers mang  yeh i love this car! as for improvements, HAHA Where do i start??? LOL too many things could have been improved, including reducing weight, Mainly my driving!! I have a lot to learn about launching on the track! I would like to invest in some slicks aswell. I just can't wait to get back out there and get focused!!:D

u dont need slicks ! get better on steret tyres and then hit hte slicks !
i managed to hit a 14.790 in a factory standard ek4 with a custom CAI. tein sussy and removed spare tyre and tools. removed rear speares and parcel shelf and removed the seats

ran on shitbox 195/55R15 tyres on 23psi run 9litres of fuel and chuck a shit before you go LOL
60ft was 2.225 i thinkk

 That's impressive as hell! how much do you weigh? the car will definately be on a diet when i go back. i noticed immediately that the car bogged Heavily at the staging lights. i had 28psi in them. it was like learning to drive all over again. I'm definately going back soon to practice but i havent had a chance to get under the car yet to repair it because i did some damage to my back pushing the car off the line and on/off the trailer to get it home. If any of you race at willowbank, i think the trailer cost me around $60 for like 4 hours rental from the mobil servo just down the road, and it was worth it! Thanks for the tips zco, i do appreciate them and will most likely be putting them to use soon!

Cheers,

The bouncing (wheel hop) is what breaks axle parts. The wheel is under load then free wheeling then under load with a shock from the free wheeling and BANG there goes your axle parts.

Yeh m8, i can appreciate the theory of wheel hop. i'm somewhat drunk at the moment but, i was actually hoping that someone of your ozhonda proclaimed caliber of knowledge could go a bit further into specific detail rather than a generalized theory as to why my axle broke during the actuation of wheel hop or bouncing as you call it, if you're going to comment?

Are you sure it was your driveshaft or was it the CV? It is more common for the CV to destroy itself. This is particularly the case when the driveshafts are angled into the CV at the hub. The angle places more stress in one spot which leads to failure.

Driveshaft failures generally happen at the splines. The splines twist under power and eventually snap. But this is usually only a factor in high powered vehicles. Other driveshaft failures may be due to fatigue from a stress fracture occurring from an accident or somesuch "shock" occurring to the shaft.

:o nah grumpy, i'm not sure what part of the axle assembly broke. i did a number on my back that night and havent been near the car since cause i'm limited in movement. i will make known the specifically damaged section as soon as i can get under the car.

Cheers,
