do i need to make the spring sit tight or what...
does anyone have an idea on why it might be so bad..

its not that low at all the rear is as low as it can go but still sitting very high but even when it was higher it was a bad ride..

thats interesting - i have buddyclub N+ and its a bouncier ride than the same sussy on other EG/DC's too. NFI why but.
how much does your car weight dude ? (IE corner weight)
Did you adjust the UPPER perch at all ?

Was the height of the lower spring perch set to BC's recommended specs?

You bought it new? If yes, then it should have already been set to factory specs unless someone at the place you bought it from was playing with the spring perch.

Ben may i ask.
for the same spring rates and setup, if its install into 2 diff cars. the car tats lighter will feel the more bouncier? right or ?
thanks

yes its possible if the cars are 2 significantly difference weights ( EG breeze vs DC2 with full options etc) then yes its possible it maybe SLIGHTLY bouncier. But , per corner weight it wont be more than say 25kg difference or so per shock
I think the issue here is the PRE LOAD settings on the shock itself (that is , with the shock out before installation you preload it to the manufacturers specs via the upper perch and coil length etc
how do you guys know that it isnt just shitty dampers
i have heard from someone that deals BC's that basically the dampers are shit
i am running BC Juniors.. had jap instructions, so i am intrigued about preloading

the jap instructions should have some diagrams (ala tein instructions) - do u still have the paperwork ?!? scan it and post it up y0 !
ok i will check for paper work..
edit:
have the paper work..
all in jap obviously.. will scan it tonight when i get home from work..
there are no diagrams from what i can tell that relate to spring preload

How did you lower the car by? the base or spring perch

is there a diagram of the coilover itself , with lines pointing to the sides and perch level etc with measurements ? (usually in mm)

I have BC race spec on my ride and they are bouncey too. However, I'm more inclined to attribute this to the fact that my control arms can barely move, due to the springs being so hard and the bushines all being next to solid urethane. Imagine jacking your car up and the wheels not even moving an inch - it's no suprise the whole chasis moves up and down over bumps. In my case, I need to get the urethane changed with rubber and a dyno run to have the rebound dampers tuned properly.
As for the spring seat.. when had the car jacked up - ie no load on the springs, I did up the seat until it was tight (with the tool). Is this the correct way to have it set? I used the lower section to adjust height.. ie didn't use the spring perch at all - as above, they were all tight against the springs with no load.

do BC coilovers come pre assembled? or do you have to put them together yourself?
My guess would be that the springs for rear might have been placed in the front. that would explain the bouncy-ness.
i did that once LOL not pleasent at all
mr_vtec

they come alreayd together and im not as bad as you brother i dont put things back wards lol hahahahahahahhahahahah dont get cut john its to jimmy and benson lol

Yeah they come pre-assembled, and there is no mistaking front and rear suspension... considering it would be impossible to mount one in the other.

Quick question. Are your coils the Racing Spec or the N+ spec?
mr_vtec
14-05-2007, 05:48 PM
N+ :|
Dylanamus
14-05-2007, 05:48 PM
Mine personally are Race-Spec, but I'm familiar with N+, and they are actually very similar, so I feel that my contribution and feedback is still relevant. I wouldn't be suprised if the actual shocks in the two series are the same.

My friend got BC too. Same problem with you. So, i go for Tein Flex now. BC is monotube designed. Not for street i think.
here are the 6 pages in order..
if someone could translate it would be good
stuff like preload, how to set dampers and other important things

how low did u drop it ?
if u knew anything about BC coilovers, lowering the car does not affect the spring rate

thats probably true for all coilovers

No, it's because the BC has an adjustable lower mount like the Tein Flex. Coils like Tanabe and Tein SS rely on lowering the lower spring perch to lower the car.

realyy??
thats interesting
i thought all coilovers were height adjustable without changing spring stiffness....
thnx aaron

It still doesn't change the spring stiffness. It changes the amount of damper travel available and if set unevenly across the corners, changes the preload too.
