Hey guys, i know i've come to the right place :D I've been reading little things here and there :D

Anyway, i was wondering if anyone could help me with pics and or very detailed information on the best way to pull my front dash apart so i can install my HU. I've had a real quick look at it and only saw a few screws here and there.

I've been working alot lately so i haven't had the chance to really have a look at how to do these things. I only got my civic a week ago :D

So yeah, my cars a 11th month 91 EG Civic, should i classify this as a 92? I've noticed the shape of the EG is pretty much the same through the years, any difference in the cars?

Sorry about all the different topics, been great if yo'll could help me out :D

Thanks muchly

yes classifies as a 92.
slight difference in cars, there are stickies in the civic section.

your car, if it doesn't have the double din console, is quite straight forward.

there are 4 screws, on the bottom panel trim, 2 at the top, and 2 on the side, unscrew em.
then disconnect the plug that supplys the light and the ciggaette lighter power.
then there is are screws holding in the unit, unscrew em, and it should slide out, and then you unplug the harness, and the antenna, done.

easy, there should be a screw in the handle, and another screw in the grab handle, that should be it.
just to be safe though, look around for other screws.
but there aren't that many.
then, from the bottom, pull the trim of firmly, not hard or you'd break the clips or the door trim.
the trim is mainly held on clips around the edges of the trim.
then you pull it up and then dissconect the switches.
that's it.

Where abouts are the rear speakers hiding? I've had a look and for the life of me can't find them.

they're in the rear qtr?
not much exp in eg hatches.
but yeah, should be in the rear qtr, if it ain't there there ain't any, and most people put somethign in the parcel shelf.
the fronts are 4inchs, but you can clear 6.5inches.

I just had a look at the HU...

I seen those four screws your talking about but it doesn't look like it'll get the HU out. Those screws are underneath the HU. I could take those out and it'll take the bottom bit (has the Cigarette light there and the two compartments).

Dude you take off that panel under the HU to get more access to it after.
Take the faceplate and little rectangular cover off the HU,

Slide a flat head screwdriver between the HU and the bracket, that will disengage it so you can just slide it out.

To slide it out, reach under the unit from the removed panel. Theres a hole in the frame to get ur hand thru so you can slide the HU out from the bottom as well as pull it from the front.

The bracket will still be in there, you can just slide the new head unit into it.

I spent hours trying to work out why the HU didnt come out, it was cos of the little locking thing down the side of the Bracket...

Where in brisbane are you?

Anyone know any good buys that are out there at the moment? I spose i can use this time to do some research on audio gear.
