firstly, i would like to say hi to everyone

its time for me to buy my first car. i'm looking at a 1988 honda civic, i have no idea what engine is in it or what model it is. all i know it is 1.5L and has dual carbies.

The engine actually says sep 1987 but the rego says 1988.

What things should i look out for?

i needed a small car, it was either a civic or a ford tx3, i like the civics much more

Hi Mate.

the civic would be a much better choice than the TX3, the civic like you said si a 1.5l dual CV carb, they also have an electronic management system with an ECU just like the EFI cars. the thing you should look for is, make sure the timming belt has been changed with in the last 3 years or get it done as they only last 5 years or 100000kms, water pump noise or leaks, cracks in the rear trailing arm bushes, noisy CV joints, ect

the 88 civic is a nice car and if maintained well very relaible.

good luck
