Hey guys,

Im looking to move into Australia maybe the year after next. Can you guys point out where i can find information about importing laws?? Im looking to bring in my DB8 Type R (DC2 shape 4 door type R). Im not interested in a JDM DC2R or AUDM DC2R as 4 door is convenient and rare. Car is basically a 99, has airbags and catalytic converter etc. Any information would be great as i don't want to sell my car off. Thanks gain guys!

You can bring your car easily to OZ under private import if you have pre owned for 12 months.

Because your car doesn't satisfy the SEVS Regulations (Check DOTAR for details or SEVS) because its not unique enough and I doubt any Garag/Importer has bothered to go through the approval process to have the DB8 compliant (this is the case for most if not all Hondas barring the recently approved EP3 apparently) the only real way to import it is by personal import, meaning you must have owned the car for 12 months and have documentations etc of you actually having driven the car on a basis (that part is what I've heard).

You still have to have it complianced, like what one of our members found out. For his Accord wagon, he needed to install child seat mounting points in the rear and a flap for the fuel filler hole. Also note that if you have HIDs but no spray washers or autolevellers, those will have to be replaced with halogen bulbs.
