If you get an 99-01 model just make sure you factor in ~$1500 to replace clutch/machine flywheel (if not already done). Like just about every honda, if it's got a good history there shouldn't be any major worries.

i think as long as klms are low doesnt matter 99 or 01 onwards .who want a new model with high klms.

yeah, I got my '01 late last year, low k's, just under 40k from a honda dealer with extended warranty and full service done. Only thing i need to do is plan to get a new roof, which i found out from this site topsonline.com have good ones which dont cost the earth and if you are game you can do the replacement for under 1000.

good luck lookin around, my opinion is make usre they have service book up to scratch, if buying private, get the thing looked through for any accidents etc..etc..get motor looked at too, high revving does pay a price if not looked after well....being manual, 100k mark is general for a clutch, but that also depends on how you drive too..!!

theres nothign wrong with 99' 00' models

only difference is that 99' 00' and 01' do not have glass window on rear

S2K AP1 all have clutch buxx and its normal with the OEM clutch and flywheel.

if you really dont like the small buzz, just get a new clutch and machine the flywheel and its gone.

IMO look for one obviously under 100,000kms

make sure service history is there, engine wise the car is quite reliable and no real issues other then clutch buzz.

mechanical wise just get the diff and gearbox checked out cause its known as the weakest point in the S2K.

i've only had mine for about 3 months, and the only problem so far was a dead battery this week. Its a 99 but with only 40,000klms, looks as new. I took it to get checked out a independent honda mechanic called HONDACARE up here in Brisbane.

Where abouts are you located?

Dunno why everyones on about the clutch. If the previous owner has ruined the clutch then, yes u'll need a replacment. And ure damn fool if u machine the oem flywheel, this isnt a civic ppl. If for a specific reason the flywheel is damaged u'd be better off investing in an aftermarket one, which would be cheaper and lighter. The clutchs life is dependent on the driver.

The 00-01 (becasue even those s2000's sold in 99 were considered 00' models) mainly have faults with the roofs plastic window cracking and yes the clutch buzz characteristic, WHICH IS NOT A PROBLEM OF ANY SORT!. just a little noise.

Now the 02+ have a few more features like the glass window, along with a better stereo, a few more storage compartments and in theory less K's. It is a more refined car, as most problems with the first model were eliminated in 02+models. So if u find a decent example u wont be up for any repair bills, and IMO same can be said 00+ models, all depends on the previous owner.
