Not sure about dc2Rs in vic but dc5rs cant.
VIc has a limit on power to weight.

its 125 kw per tonne.

the dc5r is like 127 per tonne.

You are even allowed to drive a S2000 in NSW for P Platers on the new rule.

It seems if you get your P's after July 2007 the new rules are awfully similar to the ones currently employed by the RTA in NSW.
But before July 2007 you're stuck with the old power to weight restriction.

So I guess that means if you want to drive a Type R or S2000 get your P's after July 2007 rofl!

i don't think i've ever heard of anyone in victoria driving a typr R on their P's n gtn pulled over for it.

don't think the cops down here actually go thru all those stats on the cars.... unless they catch u speeding at like 180km/ph then they will raise questions as to wether or not ur actually allowed to drive that car.

my mate was looking at buying a retired tank down in the south west actually, fully liscenced =)

i think it was re-badged as a 'tractor' for a farm

it was hell expensive and would have been a bitch on fuel =)

No Type-R if you are on your P's and in Vic. Here's a link to the calculator available on VicRoads website.

look the law is very hard to interpret, because if you walk into a cop shop and ask and then into vic roads they will give you complete different answeres.........
and then the next cop will give you another answer,
like i said i never had a prob with my dc2r like i said its yellow with full exhaust so its loud and they never touched me for not being able to drive it on my p's
and yes i have my p's before july 05 or what eva the date is

That is the exact kind of mind set that will get you in trouble...and when you look back on it after you get done, you'll be regretting it (or whinging about it on Ozhonda).

Obey the laws - and you'll get to drive the cars you love sooner rather than later.

Yes i was unsure of DC2R's however i was correct in saying the DC5R was 127kw per tonne.

The only thing i am not completely sure of is it Air conditioning and other factory options are counted as well. If they are then the dc5R is ok for P Platers as it becomes 124KW per Tonne.

On a side note, when i was pulled over by the police they never questioned my driving of this car as a P Plater. Was i lucky? who knows.
Chances are if i get pulled over more i will get found out sooner rather than later.

Check with your mommy and daddy first though, they might not like buying you a 4 seater...

mate as stated by Q_Ball a few posts up, that kinda mindset is what will get you in trouble.

the law isn't hard to interpret, it is written by thos in authority for VICROADS. if the cops don't know the facts then you are still breaking the law and are simply lucky

yeah your allowed to drive any 4cyl as long as its not turbo charged or modified we cnt drive high preformance 6cyl V8s and turbo/ super charged cars which is weird cause we can drive cars like s2k, lotus elise and the sv6 which are all very fast cars lol

AC is an option for the Type R. They use the base (non optioned weight) which is 1160. Meaning its 127kw/ton.

Indeed there was and I know him personally too. I won't mention his nick/name with out his concent but he was done for driving a too powerful car for a P plater (DC5R).

so true man, its bloody stupid. you can drive a DC5R but you cant drive Merc C180 Kompressor which is slower than even a commodore and a hundred times safer :thumbdwn: . doesn't make sence at all...

I wish this these were the case in Syd, too many young'ns getting DC2R's and ruining the fck out of them.

they should re-write em up p platers should drive anything over 3.5Lt engine cap so that way it straightens everything out lol

That wont work. It will be the same as when they did a cap on motorbikes. The boys at honda just engineered a smaller CC motor to go nuts.

Power to weight works well but its not enforced.
