can a synchro problem present periodically? i tend to think if the synchro was buggered, that it would be difficult to shift all the time

occasionally when i shift from high-ish rpm my box grinds into second.

i dont shift particularly quickly at the best of times, so am not hard on my gearbox often at all.

car is a da9 w 120 000ks

yeah i had all the fluids done at 92 000 when i bought it, so i would assume they are still groovy.

ive only noticed it when its hot, but thats only because i only ever get above 3k or so when its fully warmed.

the weird thing is it doesnt happen very often at all, but when it does it is very noticeable

i spose it could be the syncros on their way out but it does sound weird.

Have you checked the bushings in the shifter?? might not be slotting in properly??

to answer your questions, it will happen everytime when they are well and truly shot.

Until then, it will happen intermittently, like you said,at high rpms when your shifting quick, sometimes it just whenever, hard to tell but yeh it is intermittent

If it only happens some times and all fluids are fine i would say check the bushes (as someone stated) and also check to see if u can adjust ur clutch; Does it engage when it is fully pressed in?

I would say bushes/rubbers though... ive seen it happen to a couple of cars

Welcome to having a cable b-series gearbox. I'm yet to hear of one with great syncros. On a gearbox I sold first gear was incredible, you could get it in at any speed, but 3rd and 4th were shot. In my current one, second is almost as big a piece of shit as first but third and fourth are ok.

Sucks you're having problems at such low kays but i'm not suprised in the slightest. What gearbox fluid?
