hi
im actually not that into car audio
but i recently had a jvc mp3 player installed
a kd-s869 i think it is

anyway
the guy that hooked it up 4 me was a friend
and after he finsihed
i lost the digital clock display on my centre console(not the deck itself)

now he came around to check the wires and fuse and everything was fine

the clock was still working that morning he came to install my head unit
so.........

also, for some reason, evertime i turn on my mp3 player
it loses all its previous settings(including time set) which means i have no time display in the car at all
its quite annoying....

does anyone have any ideas how to fix this?

buy a watch?

I think your friend is lacking instilation knowledge and neglected to hook up the power cable, rather hooking it up to the accessories cable... If they're hooked up the wrong way round the unit will work but will lose its memory.

He has ****'d up the power and/or ignition wires.

Sorry but i cannot understand your typing really well but there seems to be a problem with the constant 12v battery power, i.e. when you have the keys in or out there should be constant power to the clock and HU to keep display and to keep settings. If you have any idea of what you're doing then have a look yourself, if not then get an autoelectrician or audio installer to check it.

It sounds like what Bol said.

There will be 2 power wires. 1 for constant (to retain info) that goes to the battery, and 1 for remote so that it turns on when the ignition is turned on.

As for the clock, perhaps the constant power was cut in an attempt to use the power for the deck and something along the way was f*cked up or forgotten.

Sounds like you should keep your mate away from it and further installs!

Unlike most shops we don't charge anything just to have a quick look dude.

Ring me on 0417 686 671 if you want me to look over it sometime this week. ;)

ok guys
im getting another friend to take a look at my h/u to morrow
he said if needs be, he'll rewire the thing for me
what should i tell him exactly so that he can sort out what is wrong?
im guessing the two different power cables is an issue
what else?
