View Full Version : Tein Flex for Street

My DC2 is stock suspension and wheel but dumped 3" on King Superlows.

I'd like to lower similar (2.5"), but remove the annoying bounciness (including hitting bump stops because it's got less travel) and making it alot more stiff.

1. Will lowering Flex (or BC N+) 2.5", cause it to hit bumpstops or reduce shock travel? (sorry, not experienced with suspension so I dont know the actual terms to use).

2. Is Flex too hard for 99% Daily Driven Street car? Speed bumps, when girlfriend the car etc.

Thanks

most ppl find tein quite stiff for street (like most coilovers in general)

and 'tien' like in the thread title is a viet name :p

we run tein flex in some of our EG's nice and low. It's fine for daily driving. But then again we think no AC and PS is fine too, lol.

Simple answer. Dont go for flex if its DD, its pretty harsh unless you like stiff ride

So FLEX is still extremely hard even on the softest running?

What options do I have for Coilovers, on a Daily Driver, and I want her to sit low? ie. Tien Super Street when you dump them, it's reduces the coil movement so it can bottom out easily. Flex doesn't do this. I heard N+ Is too hard too.

How about cusco zero2
nice ride for daily driven

Cusco zero 2 are nice for street. We had them on our dc2r

Sounds good, exactly what I'm asking/looking for.

I want something better than DC2R stock suspension, but 100% daily driver. Does Cusco Zero2 suffer from the same as Tein SS, where when you dump it, it reduces coil travel?

Assuming I even append grammer to what you said, that still doesn't make sense.

Some people adviced me to get Zeals suspension which is the best for DD.
Besides, Tein SS is pretty good considering that the spring rates are low.
There is another one that have lower spring rates which make it soft.. but I forgot what it is..

I reckon you should see the spring rates before you purchase the goods.. spring rates play an important role in the stiffness of the car!

LOL, I wasn't making fun of your grammar, I was asking why you posted that. Maybe you could enlighten us all? What was the point of your post koibito?

Tein SS isnt bad but I want to run my DC2 low, and if I dump it it reduced shock travel and i'll be hitting bumpstops like I currently am anyway. Flex doesnt have this problem but its springrates are alot harder. I'm checking out Cusco Zero2's as suggested though, maybe they are in the middle.

Well, could you be soo kind to give us all a minor review of the $2000 coilover you just installed?

Theres not much on Tein Flex on Ozhonda...

Do you think it's too rough for 99% daily driver?
How low can it go?

Thanks

tein ss coilovers are ok on the street, i have them in one of my cars, and theyre pretty good for street, it might be abit too soft for the track though.

overall the tein SS series doesnt really lower the car by much, majority of them lower a maximum of about 2.5".

if your after a really comfortable tein suspension/coilover, then u could go with the comfort series, however theyre only available for certain vehicle makes.

I have almost bought the tein flex as well for my dc5r.. in the end, i did not want to get it as the spring rate is too hard.. and i believe that the ride will be worse than tein ss..
u can check it out at tein website.. and thy have the rates etc.. as well as where to best use it..

Tein flex are fine for daily driver. Turn sthe stiffness down and they almost drive like a normal sports shock. Turn them up and there like nothing else. If you want reliability and performance in a coilover the teins are worth every cent.

how do they feel?

feed back... hard or soft for the street?

um, I had them on the lowest setting, and it wasn't too bad I put 200km's on them today, and it was ok.

When you turn them up to mid-range they start to get pretty firm and bumpy.. not all that comfortable. but if you keep them turned down, ok, still firm, a lil bit of roll, but comfortable..

I'm quite impressed, its like a nite/day comparison to OEM

esp when cornering. sat in his car - on softest, its great and still handles well.

nice RSB + softer setting would be idea for daily driver imo.

if I am game I can reduce the spring rates...
