View Full Version : CV Boots
Upon my tyre change the other day, apparently I need new front CV Boots. Is $90 per corner ($180 all up) sound about right?
Could this be caused because I dumped my car 2.5" (King superlow springs) without changing shocks or anything else?

Dude try contacting Payton at Unique Motorsports in Villawood. He does it for a good price. Unsure of his number but he should be listed.

The price for boots is around the right range. There's a specialist on the Central coast here who did mine for $70 each, and that was a good price compared to other quotes.
CV joints can be put at extreme angles by lowering/raising the car. This can result in friction against the boot, causing tearing. Tearing of the boot can also be caused by sticks etc catching on the boot and ripping it, but if your car is regularly checked and both boots have torn it's more likely that this is related to the angle of your axles.
This angle is also a cause of extreme wear in the joints themselves, as they are constantly under strain.

yeah thats an ok price.....theres a bit of labour in it because you have to get to the driveshafts to change the boots.Lowering the car probably has put more stress on the boot, but it could just be normal wear...just check the boots regularly when they get changed to make sure they are ok. And try and get the boots changed as soon as possible hey, before you get dirt etc. in the cv joints and making u spend more $$$
