there is no penalty.
i think penalty only applies if its on the front of the car.

So they're actually enforcing it now? My god, what has this world come to? I would have thought Morris Iemma would have realised how stupid he must have sounded and just gotten over the whole "for sale sign = wanna race" garbage...
He's not as smart as I had hoped...

There's no legislation that is In Force; nor is there anything on the RTA website.
I'm certain it's not in force.

In QLD if you have a For Sale sign on your car then you must have a current RWC. That's why people put "Want This", "Like This" etc and their mobile number. If they sell it then they get a RWC.

yeh i looked into this ages ago wen i first heard iemma go on about "for sale means u wanna race" crapola on the radio, its not enforced yet and it may not even be pushed through but if it does it will come into affect with all those other laws in june.

bah, you all need to read the law again.
its illegal to have any sort of advertising on any of your windows in nsw because it obstructs vision. the reality is that not many people get booked for it, but that doesnt change the law

mm possibly poor explanation on my part.
stuff like on taxis, and vans as you mentioned, which can be seen from outside the vehicle but allows the driver to see out of the vehicle is obviously legal. it is also professionally installed, and there are standards relating to the amount of light that can pass through, just like with tinting.
sticking stuff to your window is basically the same as trying to tint your windows with alfoil or something.
