hey guys!
after much debate looks like ill be getting a turbo kit on my car in a month or 2. a mate of mine is doing the work for me, not backyard style.
im posting here because i was hoping that anyone could give me opinions and the pro's and con's of this setup, and anything that i may have missed out on.
KEEP IN MIND. i do not want this to be a highway slut of a car, im planning on hitting boost at 3000rpm-3500rpm with this setup, and running only 7psi all i want is 200hp awt...
Gt28/30 Rs with a .63 housing
Water to air intercooler from ARE(sleeper)
intake
microtech LT-10 Computer
fuel pump and regulator(dont need bigger injectors as only running 7psi)
ARP head studs
triple core head gasket(lower the compression)
custom exhaust manifold
custom single plate clutch
thats the basics of it, obviously included in there is the intake piping, dump pipe, performance radiator, fuel lines etc.
any and all opinions would be lovely, dont try and convince me to go N/A...not interested lol
thanks guys!

200hp can be easily done with a stock b16a. GT28RS is a very nice turbo and will suit you good ifnt perfect. But i would leave out the head gasket and head studs. Theres no need to lower compression if you're only planning to run 7psi. You only need to lower it if you're planning to run abit more boost to make abit more power without having to rebuild but its not recommended.
Also get a nice set of injectors and leave the stock regulator.
stuff like radiator and fuel lines can stay. i guess

SLOWEGG. my brother was running 7psi with a t66 on his integra, and it would ping in the heat. this setup is a VERY VERY VERY precautionary build, which is why i am considering getting a block guard also
according to my mate who is doing the turbo setup i wont need injectors *shrug* meh ill buy em anyway :D
thanks!

Stay away from block guards. For the power figures you're looking at just leave the motor the way it is and concentrate on the main bolt on stuff.
I just finished my b16a turbo running about 7psi (road tune) and it doesnt ping or anything even in the heat.
Theres heaps on info about b16a turbo on here, just do a quick search and it will show you what exactly you need and dont need. GL buddy.

Setup looks good. 200hp (150kw) you should be able to acheive without much problem as long as everyone knows what they are doing.
Like Slowegg said and I agree:
Stock fuel reg is fine,
Dont decompress engine, leave it as is,
Get larger injectors.
Absolutly no need for block guard.
So where are you from, Brisbane somewhere? I see your getting/got a ARE intercooler.

why water to air?

amazingly stated .. :p
this will be easy to make 200 hp on wheels.. and more !! if you got the right stuff and tuned good.
dont worry about the compression so much .. ur only running on 7 psi if you want 10 psi then u should think again ..
on 10 psi .. things are on limits.. so dont risk your b16 to the point of blowing. either ur gasket or worst is internals being crooked. :) Good LUCK

why water to air? haha i want it sleeper, plus without an intercooler i will get more air flow into the radiator and into the engine bay = less chance of overheating
yeah 200hp atw sounds like fun, i dont want heaps of power, i just want early boost with a good torque curve for quick excelleration. plus i wanna take it down the strip and see what sort of time i get from it :D
thanks for the input guys!!!!

You say that now.. wait till you drive it for awhile. You want more boost and power!

buddy, a little birdy tells me that your car is already built to handle boost. So just leave the engine alone and turbo that sucka ;)

haha yeh i know Duy, according to Glen its fully forged *uh oh im going to be in trouble*
SLOWEGG. i have already lost my licence, yeh i will want more power, but i want to start off small, and build up. after 3 months of this build i will prob get bigger injectors and up the boost, but i wanna start off small.

yeah mate i will let you know. should be all finished in abouts 2 months or so...
definatly get a decompress gasket. u cant boost a NA engine. episcally with compression over 9.0:1 without avgas.
your turbo is a bad choice but. the mismatched turbine create pig lag with no ooomph. get a plain RS.

Hey! sounds like an awesome vtec+turbo car to-be!! Hope the transformation happens smoothly without any massive bumps along the way for you... =)
Would be keen on an update or the progess of your project..
I'm currently looking into a similar setup... I've been told that the hondata s200 for the b16a should do the trick (that is with a proper dyno&tune) and perhaps a mechanical boost controller to cut the cost of things...
I took my ex-200sx s14a to croydon (syd) for dyno/tuning for around 600 bux for a few runs... which it did 170kws atrw (4th gear run) on stock internals, s15 turbo, IC, 3" custom exhaust, injectors....oh and on 15psi
I'm considering going back there again once I can finance a turbo kit for my car.. I'm sure that people like dynodave or Adrian from toda should be able to hook you up with the hondata stuff...
Keep us posted plz

wow 15 psi and make 227.97 (170kws) HP!!
my car can make more  (if i boost to 15 psi :o )
f22b1 accord 95 t3 0.7 bar (10 psi) 205hp fwh stock internals
does it mean honda better? :p LOL !!!

haha thanks JDMboy, will definitely keep ya posted, i was considering using my Hondata to tune the motor, but its a pain in the butt getting a tuner to do it for me as DD is never in town and James from Hondata is in Melb...no good to me. plus ill prob sell my Hondata soon anyway.
im going to keep with this turbo, its seen setups with it before and its my weaon of choice, disco potato style.

Hey guys just thought i'd clear up a couple of things. I had a gt3540r on my integra not a t66 :) It made 240hp on 7psi. Stock internals. I have since sold the car. Some of you may remeber the plates 96TEG!
Anyhoo...
It use to detonate because of the high compression combined with boost and a crap computer. But you all knew that. I ran a MTech LT10s ecu in the integra while it was boosted; hondata prior to that. It was lots of fun...i use to scare the shit out of alot of cars.
One thing i learnt while having the turbo honda was that doing things the cheap way is the worst thing you can do. Turbocharging a high(er) compression engine is something you can do fairly easily providing you use the correct parts/ECU and a good tuner!!!
I believe that by doing what my little brother is doin is frickin cool but, having done it before would do it very differently.
OH yeah and dont worry peeps i currently dont own a car(honda) but will have somthing for ya early next year!!! so watch these pages!

WRONG :thumbdwn:

don't water to air intercoolers require another radiator?
so u'd be restricting cool air flow ayway.

you CAN boost a N/A motor with a static compression of 9:1. I did it to the integra ie b18c they have a comp of 10:1. **** James from Hondata boosted a K20 Type R safely. They have a comp of 11:1.
Its tuning. If the car has the correct parts, good ECU and an even better tuner it will work on pump gas. No problem.

^^ same as top :)
as long you know where your limits is !! even though compression is at 9:1 if you boost to 15 psi on stock engine.. ??? wat would happen?

lol i wish James or Dyno Dave could tune my Hondata for this conversion, due to the Mtech only having increments every 250/500rpm, and Hondata having increments every 5 rpm or so...and no im not taking my car to APC...
