as we went for a test drive with my new suspension mods, we hear a clunk clunk noise near the springs. so we pull over and we see the shock has shot through its own mount. do yous think i should get an original honda mount or get a used one? the other side looks like its on its way out aswell, so im gonna get 2 just in case. tell me wat u guys think if u got any other ideas? here is what i mean>>>

maybe you didn't tighten the top bolt enough, tighter might make it hold tighter, from the looks of it. the rubber will spread making a stronger hold

just a n00b oppinion from observing the pics

never delt with shocks

you left out a metal washer - black in colour and about the same diameter as the rubber that pushed out. It is designed to sit inbetween the upper bush (shown) and the piston rod cover.

Dont be worried just jack it up , take it out and put it together PROPERLY

only aftermaret upper mounts have pillow ball mounts.
Most if not all stock suspension on cars has an upper mount , with bushes and washer either side of mount and a single upper locking nut to hold the spring secure / captive.

might be because you disconnected the upper ball joint and that gave it enough movement to pop out.

No. Just jack the car up properly , and take the entire shock OUT.
Undo the lot and lay it down. Put it together PROPERLY with the larger washer either side of the bush (in the upper mount). THIS is why the shock has pushed through the upper mount.
I think you guys need to step back and pay a few $$$ to get someone who knows what they are doing.

EDIT i saw you are in QLD - pm "barefootbonzai"to help you out. Im sure a few $$$ or a beer or two and he will fix it up.

ontop of the circled washer , there should be another washer , THEN the shock cover , THEN another washer , then the upper mount. Ontop of this mount, should be one last washer, THEN the top locking nut.
