Lately my car has developed a bit of a noise around the head area of the motor. It is definatly noticable and was wondering if anyone could help me identify it. Motor is D16y8 with 175,000km.
The sound is like... dense clicking sound. its frequency is proportional to revs. its kinda like a... chiggy chiggy chiggy.. or chuggy chuggy. LOL. its the kind of sound u hear on older cars.. and makes the car sound old.
Its definatly coming from the head area of the motor and it sounds kinda like what you would expect a cam hitting a valve open to sound like, but is definatly louder this past week.
Im guessing its a common thing cause my old paddock basher made this sound once:confused:

Sounds like you need to adjust youre valve clearances.
Theres a DIY on here somewhere.

just make sure you get the right info about the clearances and you can't go wrong.
plus Descent feeler gauge and you'll be a happy camper.

before ypu touch anything, check the oil level. if it is good, proceed with further checks.

injectors? wat makes them do that?
all dirty injectors click when they open and close
when they are pulsing on idle they are quite noticable and sometime loud
sometimes mistaken as tappets

is there a DIY on physically cleaning injectors?
or is better to use the 'nulon fuel injector cleaners' to mix with the petrol?
