I'm after a cat back for my jazz and just wondering which ones I should get.
So far I know of Buddyclub Pro Spec or 5Zigen A Spec
Any recommendations and feedback?
theres also spoon, j's racing, mugen, x force & a few others out there. Had the spoon exhaust & it was sweet. So personally i would go for spoon.

stock, cuz ur monokuroboo wagon doesnt need a racing exhaust.
it just needs to be lowered and filled with ICE.
xforce is cheap as does the job for a catback.
but instead of xforce header spend the money on some jap header instead

HAHA..I had a BC3 exhaust at first...lasted 5 days before I pulled it off (this was 3 years ago) - it's just TOO loud
I got a custom job made up...sweet and quiet sound with awesome flow.

loud ? or ?

how about the HKS one ?
I think Spoon N1 is louder than the HKS if just just running stock bpipe... you can ask jeki or crazyray... They've been thru it...

I also wanna know! How loud is the HKS one and how much?
justinfox
24-05-2007, 05:19 PM
Yes the Buddy club exhaust is loud as it's designed for power gains (although it does come with a silencer for street use. I'd definitely take the silencer off when I hit the track!!!).
I'll be putting a few myths to rest ASAP, hopefully next week, when I dyno my Jazz before and after installation of the Buddy club pro spec. I'll be sure to report back with results.

1 thing to add different dyno shows different reading.

Even the same dyno on different days gives different results for the same car as it is effected by outside temperature and air density as well as many other factors.

24-05-2007, 07:39 PM
well the HKS isnt as loud as the buddyclub unless you step on it around 3000rpm.. but how can u test to see how loud it is? btw i got it for $400 and install it myself.. =)
justinfox
25-05-2007, 11:25 AM
We will be testing it literally on the day. IE: Dyno test stock, take car off dyno, install exhaust then back up on the dyno so the power gain will be as accurate as possible.
justinfox
25-05-2007, 11:26 AM
MUGENJ (http://www.ozhonda.com/forum/member.php?u=3946): $400? I assume that is just a muffler and not a complete cat-back system?
jayesse
25-05-2007, 11:35 AM
The silencer kills absolutely all the power on the street...it's worse than stickin the A/C on....
That said the perceived power gains are pretty good in vtec (i never dyno tested it) but the way the car revved out was amazing....you'd hit the rev-limiter without even trying.
It became really laggy off the mark though which became tiresome....
I literally couldn't have a conversation with the person in the passenger seat...it was just that loud!
Sounded bloody fantastic though!
crazyray
25-05-2007, 12:57 PM
i am also guessing that is was just the muffler only..

25-05-2007, 04:30 PM

i got it from this shop in the city... they stock up jazz parts.. let me know if u want to know where it is

Penguin
11-06-2007, 12:00 AM
hehehehe....what's that you say???? i've got spoon and without the silencer i can't even hearmyself think!!!!! oh...btw...it gives good power gains.....you can feel the flow. if you've got a short ram intake....you can hear the increased suction

Guys, at the moment i'm in the market for a catback exhaust. After looking around and thought that the mugen looks quite nice in the finish.
Too sad that i cannot read japanese on the mugen website, i was wondering if this particular exhaust is catback or axle back? Because i much prefer a catback exhaust, also if i've a VTi-S 1.5L do i get the 18000-XK7C-K1S0.
Anyone used this exhaust that can comment abit about them would be very awesome

.... i got a Right Price exhuasts $150 fitted special. Just the muffler, gave me an extra few KW, (enuf to offset me lard arse maybe...), and the stock muffler is restrictive, so revs better in the top end of the rev range.
Actually sounds good, not too loud, not raspy or restrictive, considering the small $$$ spent. not REALLY sure how much performance you'll actually gain from the cat back, the stock system is mandrel bent, and not too bad all things considered. if you make the pipes too much bigger, you'll lose some bottom end power to for the extra bit of top end...
not sure what my engine builder will use to the exhaust when i give it to him to turbo, but he tends to use CES gear, and the guy there, (can't for the life of me remember his name... it's been a while), does an awesome job.

i knew someont that did, he had stock headers, no cat, no resonator, no muffler. it was LOUD!!!! no shit at low RPM's it was noticably loud easy to hear from a hundred meters off.
never heard it at high rpm, lots of performance though, he said he was able to keep up with some soarers because the engine revved much free-er.
he also had side exiting exhaust just behind the drivers side rear wheel, looked boss. he got defected for the noise level though.

Dont know why anyone would bother trying to get performance out of a Jazz, its got to be the slowest car i have ever driven. it can barely make it up hills.
I got a 5zigen Cat Back on my jazz which came on the car when i got it but i left it on cause its funny not for any type of performance.
GU357
12-09-2012, 12:29 AM
i dont know why anyone would bother replying with no constructive criticism.
sounds like you bought a broken jazz rather.
but if u drive a wrx well then theres no way a family car like a jazz could keep up.
Maybe the reason we try to get a bit out of the jazz is because its slow, i dunno cant u just leave them/us alone.
lam.666
12-09-2012, 11:10 AM
the jazz is a nice zippy car, it's not like you can hit top speed on any cars on the road anyways, for getting from a to b, its pretty fun and convenient. i had the choice between an is200 and the jazz, and the jazz won, the is200 felt abit lethargic.
LD_Mart
12-09-2012, 12:11 PM
It's is constructive criticism.
If you want performance don't bother
If you want some noise, get one
GU357

depends what u consider performance.

I find the 1.5 manual in my GE performs well given the cars intended purpose, along with the handling and brakes. Outright performance only counts at one place anyway, the race track.
My last motorcycle was a Kawasaki Z1000, with performance that would make your WRX look slow, but riding it on the road was 99% pure frustration. Better to drive a slow vehicle quick, than a quick vehicle slow I reckon.
lam.666
12-09-2012, 05:03 PM
cagers just dont understand, a wrx is annoyingly noisy, like a ninja 250 with an exhaust. if you don't like the sound of the exhaust take it off and quit your whinging, or dont even drive it, just drive your almighty performing wrx
LD_Mart
12-09-2012, 05:47 PM
Never said my wrx was almighty and it doesnt even have an exhaust.
Just saying the purpose of cat back on a jazz isnt really worth the money, the power gains would be to minimal for the money spent.
If you wanted exhaust noise stick a muffler on there.
My jazz performs well for its purpose aswell and that is to save money on fuel, park easy ect
GU357
12-09-2012, 07:21 PM
a cat back sounds better then a muffler, because the 1st resonator is very restrictive. so u knock it off for a less restrictive one.
lam.666
12-09-2012, 08:35 PM
yeah your right, its probably better just to buy a faster car, but each to their own, its like all those done up hyundai's and daewoo's
anyone got an exhaust for sale?

might be even cheaper if u tell them u dont want any resonators. (also be loud as fk)

Im getting J's headers in the mail soon and probably getting custom aluminium pipe for down pipe and b pipe. I cant justify spending the $800 for each of those but i think extractors and muffler are a different story when spending that cash.
nickcanollie
08-11-2012, 05:24 AM
But its only temporary cause im considering a K20a conversion mid next year :)
GU357
08-11-2012, 08:52 AM
NICE, so many ppl say they are gonna do it but dont though.
yeh u want good extractors, cat, and muffle for the note. then the middle pipe should just be made to the thickness of the header.
ppl that spend 1000$ on each peice because it says spoon have too much money.
just get the pipe bent up, and make them get it to fit factory hanging points, so u can still swap them out.

How I miss my Jazz.... :)
I've had Spoon header, Xforce down pipe, high flow CAT, custom B-pipe, and HKS Hi-Power exhaust on my GD3 VTiS before, it was loud as hell, and HKS didn't have a silencer for that model, had to clutch in every time a cop is going pass me. ^^
I would definitly sugguest HKS, it looks and sounds awesome, and alot cheaper than Mugen...

Well atm, ive got J's Headers in the mail. Im thinking ill get a pipe from those to the muffler, and get a cat in if its TOOO loud.
But yeah, i think B pipe and down pipe arent really going to make as much difference as the extractors will, and muffler i just want a nice looking and sounding one.
Ive got the quote for the conversion, but ill just have this with intake and exhaust till then :)

my Jazz, at one stage had a cat back made of a resonator and another resonator as a muffler.
it was LOUDD!!! and so much vibration. it actually hurt my ears when you took off, when cruising it was a low rumble, not bad but to take off the revs had to be around 3k+ to gain speed and it was shaking the car. my ears were going to bleed, now i try and supply my own muffler
