Hi guys, i'm planning on buying a new civic vti sedan. Well actually now considering the new corolla ascent sedan.

But i'm new to the whole process, so I was wondering if anyone could give me any advice?

Maybe advice on how to bargain, hidden costs I should know about, the cheapest honda dealers in sydney, that kinda thing.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

How to bargain - shop around and know what you want to pay. Remember, whatever they initially offer you is always to high.

Something to remember - you are trying to buy a car and save as much money as you can. The dealership on the other hand is trying to sell you a car and make as much money as it can. At some point someone is going to loose out in the equation so it is a question of balance.

Are tints and mats generally given for free? How about a rear spoiler?

Nope. Make sure you start by saying you want a civic sport, auto, in xx colour, with the following options - tint, floor mats, other accessories, honda 5 year warranty etc. Then get them to give you a price and then start telling them it is to high.

Between the Ascent and the VTi, go for the VTi if you don't mind paying that little extra. You get a much nicer interior too.

I haven't really seen the Ascent interior in real life, but I do like the VTI.

Still need to test drive the VTI. However, from the looks of things, i'm pretty set on buying the VTI.

Another thing to consider is to play one dealer off against another. Ie go to one and tell them that another dealer has offered you xx price but if you can do better than that I will buy from you. Alternatively if all of this sounds to hard go to a car broker and they should be able to get you the cheapest price around.

yeh i was thinking of going to a few dealerships just to get some quotes and then try to haggle my way through.

do dealers check up on the 'price' you give them? like, do they call up the other dealer to check?

I wonder if you can drop a few hundred off a quote... probably some dangerous territory here.

Hmm.. alright. If there is a problem, it's under warranty right?
