its a 98 cxi and yes its only one stem with what looks to be a shutoff valve but the funny thing is how they set up the air intake box .. it does a complete loop around and end up back facing the box point skywards with a cap over it .. something i dont understand .....

apexi has the best filtration and airflow ... 2nd is K&N
sponge things are not so good.

I do find that by fitting a pod to civic will make it loose alot of torque down low. It will rev up alot faster though. After fiddling with so many, I still go back to a K&N panel filter in the airbox. that's just from my experience ... you'll have to try if you like it yourself.

u after a pod or an intake system? like:
SRI = Short Ram Intake
CAI = Cold Air Intake

Pod filter in hot engine bay is not a good idea, unless if u got a heat shield or a bonnet with a scoop sucking air from outside directly to your pod. Not for us here in sunny QLD anyway, maybe much better with cold weather in melb & syd. Cold Air Intake much better for us up here. Besides, I've read somewhere that an exposed pod in the engine bay (meaning not covered by a box or the like) is illegal especially with oil-based pods (hot engine bay + oil + spark = fire ??). But i guess unless the cops look under your bonnet, they wouldnt know. And probably the chance of a fire happening is minimal...but i've seen it happen b4 due to dodgy electrics.

Here's mine. We both got D16's under the bonett so i know it will fit. There is not much gain (if any) but you get alot of noise out of the thing so that's why i put it on my car.

Yeah as stated above it's a good idea to have the pod covered up in a box to avoid any risks with the police (up to you). Mine has a hole down the bottom and it sucks in air through there.

That's just my setup, hope if gives you some ideas.

something to note if you are installing a pod filter.. having it exposed is not really a good idea. apart from the whole police thing, having the pod exposed in the engine bay means it'll will be taking in alot hot air which might actually cause you to lose power

but the orginal fillter is exposed to the eng bay atm the pipe does a 180 and ends up back in the same place

More noise when not covered, but it also depends on the material of your enclosure.

whats with the whole police thing? is it really ilegal? it doesnt matter what brand u get i think. i got it instaled in my 318i just for the noise :p. i also put a flexible tube as a ram intake. You might find that your car rev more freely but after one month, it only has the noise but the ca doesnt go. How often do you guys clean it? i clean it when my car feels very slow about 1.5 months

Easy as that. Also, get a Simota Pod, there $30 but filter best. It was tested in autosalon mag, and someone posted up the results

it dont really matter what POD u get. There probably wont b a power diffrence, there all noisy they all do a reasonable job keeping things out. Just get a $30 one, from repco. Infact, thats whats in my pic

Wait, i just relised, i dont use my pod no more, because the stop box makes enough noise when u take out the baffles in the front bar, then u get a cold feed from that whole u see in my pic

serious ?? why is that ??

Because it is suspicious that the top ranked in that test were brands that you could buy at your local autobarn/repco/supercheap. ;)

YEAH !! thats true hey .. thats kinda make sense.. may be that company pays ASM to put their benchmark up ? who knoes ;)

Thats why buy my Greddy on the sale section :p LOL!!

BTW its better put the box around the pod filter.. in case of getting Yellow Stickered by POLICE which give you more head ache!! Prevent it b4 it happens :thumbsup: and reduce heat goes through that enclosure area..

cooler air drawn in to the engine = power n responses
hot air = shitty shitty bang bang LOL :cool:
