Just wondering whats involved in a car service @ 10,000km or 20,000km etc. So far i know they change the engine oil, oil filter, and im guessing an all round check on the car? For those who work at a Honda dealership, can you tell me whats involved? I want to also take my own oil in when i get my car serviced. Is this allowed? And hopefully they will subtract the charge of using their own oil?
cheers

read owners manual:
Oil change
Oil filter
Check tyre pressures
Check air cleaner
Lube hinges
Check brakes
Rotate tyres if neccasay
That's pretty much all they do at a dealer, the rest is blah blah blah
And yes the bill will be less if you bring your own parts and oil
Normal service usually is oil+oil filter, fuel filter, air filter, MTF/ATF, Coolant, P/S+Brake fluid (Maybe tappet adjusting), Light bulbs, and any either minor adjustments like acellerator cable etc.
Options inc brake pads, clutch, etc etc.

Will dig that out and have a look. They are charging about $200 for a service which includes engine oil changing. I think they will knock off about $30 if i bring my own oil. Asked this about 3 months ago so dunno if its still stands. LOL, then gonna spend prolly another $60 ontop to get my oil. Very expensive to keep a car healthy :(

no it's not expensive to keep it healthy, just people are too lazy and rather some one else do all the work for them. Oil is what let's default it to $50 and filter default to $15 that's all you get in one minor service.

Well not everyone knows how to do a car service and have the tools to do so. Just take this as an example. Formatting/reinstalling a computer. Its so easy to format a computer and reinstalling an OS. Why do people go and take it to a computer technician to do it? Are they lazy too?

Dude i am a mechanic and i still put my car in 2 a garage for servicing!!
Lol, and for a good reason 2... so i have a legit service history for my car so when i sell it, it will be worth more then not having a service history and me saying 'yer i serviced it myself somtimes' Lol....

Nah i didnt take offence. Just giving an example. If i could do it, ofcourse i would. Why pay someone $200 when i could spend that on rice mods :p

Go buy jackstands a jack, an oil filter wrench, oil drainer bucket thingy and a socket set put two hours aside and learn how to change your own oil.
that alone will probably cost the same as a minor oil change at a garage and every change after that will save you like $150 for rice mods.

All I was trying to say is services are rip offs as it is, what do you guys get charged? 150-250 for a minor service, your car is in, out less than 40 minutes and some places won't even give your car a full drain, I've seen some plug it when it's still flowing in a pretty consistent stream.

well....if u want ur sevice book stumped they they will follow the book's standard that is set on that vehicle...but if u know what ur doing then u can do it yourself but that way u wont get your book stamped....meaning when your gona sell ur vehicle, some other people might what a vehicle thats follow the dealer book service.
