I'm guessing they kept some for themselves or they filled it up using the wrong hole and most of it ended up coming back out when the test drove the car.

according to honda-tech its 3 quarts ( 2.8 litres) .
Dosent really matter , as when you fill it up the exact amount
will top it and any extra will leak back out the side fill hole.

You don't need more than 2 bottles.(not sure how much is one 1 bottle). i used two bottles and had about a quarter-to-half bottle left over. Honda overcharges you for more liquid than you need in their services.

I think the grinding was a synchro problem in the DC5R gearbox. No problem with using MTF in the 6-speed manual from the k24a3.

Recently I've been getting grinds or find it hard to shift from 1st to 2nd gear. It's worst when the car is cold and gradually gets better once the car is warmed up.

I am thinking about changing to redline gearbox oil myself.

Does it do the trick?

How old is your current MTF?

Well I just had my major service last Friday at Hanny's. What's weird is, I find the notchness and difficulty getting into 2nd worsen after the major service.
It's very annoying trying to avoid this problem, and really alters my driving style.

Is it alright to use other brands on the vehicle? I was told years ago that Honda are very fussy and only their fluids and oils should be used. Other brands may shorten longevity by wearing out seals etc...I've owned many hondas in the past and only have used their products.

:)

Did they state in the invoice that they changed the tranny fluid? The manual boxes are best with Honda MTF, but there is supposedly a problem with DC5R synchros that is masked when you use a slightly thicker MTF.

Hi Anthony give Redline ago its not cheap but I Prefer it anyday over Honda MTF as you get gear grinds with it ..... Redline light weight shock proof! alot smoother once car has warmed up its like glass! silkness..

This was for my b16. Not sure if the volumes are different but i suspect that the gearbox in question takes less then the b16 i've got.

I do my own services so i know how much came out and went in.
