Hey guys

Im basically looking at a short block from the usa. As im looking to have my block sleeved i have allready found one in the usa cheaper then what the job will cost me. Build allready to go with internals. Will there be any problems registereing my car with an engine number from the states? or are the all somewhat universal?

Cheers thanks in advance

Regards Lyle

it can work. Just proive to the RTA ( or your QLD alternative) that its legit , swap the numbers over and you are good to go.

Shouldnt have any probs, as ben said as long as you have papers and proof of legit purchase when you register it with teh RTA, there shouldnt be any probs.

A guy on Ozhonda had a USDM B18C in his DC2 registered ok.

should it be still ok even if these engines do not come out in oz.... this is a
d16z6 the same as a d16y1, however the d16y1 is the australia version and there is no such engine as a d16z6 here... would anyone think this is a problem

I just got off the phone with QLD transport, they/she said : if the engine is the same displacement, the only thing you will need to do is provide legitimate proof of purchase and you're all good;)

Have fun:thumbsup:

yeh same displacement as what though? like there is no such thing as a d16z6 in oz... thats what im not sure about like if there was a oz spec "d16z6" and a usdm "d16z6" then that would be a bit different but yeh... not sure

How much are you paying for shipping for the whole short block? Would have thought getting a block sleeved at the local machine shop would be cheaper.

(String) HAHA, You should do more price reasearch and check the quality and experience of your local machine shop, (Especially when it comes to installing sleeves in a honda block). i'm sure he's getting a fair deal from america even with shipping!

sexc86:thumbsup: keep us updated with the progress mang!!!

I'm just talking about the sleeves themselves, not other parts.

labour price and quality of the job is probably the biggest areas of difference.

yeh thats right it might be a bit cheaper, but they would probably fail as not many people here have the experience to do it right (on a honda engine that is)... This engine was built by ERL, builds some of the most powerfull engines in the usa.... but still weighing up how much everything will be block shipping and tax + selling off my old gear...
