just recently purchase the whale penis intake second hand..
was looking at installing it over the weekend..
Please refer to the pic below for reference to my Question.

I noticed that the intake has two holes on it... One has the hose on it which will connect to the head and the other is just open.

1) what is this second hole for.?
2) if i don't use that hole for anything, will i need to seal it with a rubber grommet to ensure no air comes out/in through that whole.?

Cheers in advance.!

Perhaps it's the hole for the MAS plug?

that hole is for a sensor to be plugged in. look on your stock intake arm you could've accidentally left it on.

That hole is there for the Intake Temperature sensor found on OBD2 cars.

If your car doesn't have the sensor just plug the hole it. My CF intake came with a little plug to fill the gap but if you don't have it (buying second hand) you should be able to get something from bunnings/autobarn to plug it up.

isnt that hole for a breather from the rocker cover??

na theres two. One has a pipe coming out of it (this goes to the rocker cover) and the other is for a temp sensor. (OBD2 cars)

My intake has two holes - I think they both have something plugged in to them. I had 2 buy another rubber grommet for mine as the one supplied with the whale penis was too small :( :)

THanx for the Replies guys.

I haven't actually installed it or had a proper look at my Stock intake.
i was thinking that it might be for some sort of sensor.. i guess i'll found out soon when i install it if i have that sensor or not..
I've already purchased a rubber grommet from clark rubber to plug the hole if i don't have the sensor.

cheers for all ur help :)

I got mine off of trav, and the little rubber grommet fell out :o, so i got some CF film, cut a small square and matched it nicely to the pattern on the intake, unless you look really closely looks like there was never a hole there. But yeah, you'll need only one hole man.

Installed the intake last friday.
That extra hole on the intake was not required so i just plugged it with the rubber grommet i purchased from clark rubber.

Here's a pic of the intake. (sorry for the shit quality)

no noticeable gains.. Most probably negative gains since it's just suckin up hot air... lol
sounds awesome tho, especially during vtec.. :)
well it's only temporary, so i'm happy with it.

***considering on making a custom box if i find some time ***

hmmz.. pretty sure i didn't unplug any sensor on my stock intake..
Maybe it's due to my engine being a JDM B16A (OBD1), so it didn't come with that sensor..

u might have the B16a2 (OBD2) engine.?

doesn't matter what engine code you have. it all depends on what OBD you car is.

OBD0 and OBD1 don't use an extra sensor in the intake arm

OBD2 does use an extra sensor in the intake arm

This goes for all B series engines and probably D series as well.
