hey guys
just wondering how difficult it would be to stroke my EW2 1500 non VTEC motor out to 1600 with B16 interenals. i.e crankshaft, pistons rods etc.
Any help would be appreciated
thanks

Might be cheaper to get a B18C put in...More future potential too.

yeah true, but i dont wanna spend 6K on a motor, cos i dont have it for a start.
maybe a b16, but i dont really wanna change from carby to Fuel Injection, as teh wiring will be a b*tch to do.
thats why i wanna stroke it out. how much will that cost??

IMO
increasing the stroke of your 1.5 will cost close to if not more than the vague figure of "$6k".
What proof do you have that a B16a bottom end will even fit into your 1.5 ?
The B16 is 81.0mm bore x 77.4mm stroke. Is that within dimensions of the EW15 block ?
Best to buy a second hand D16 EFI engine and pay abit for custom mounts and have 96kw STOCK and a fun package.(maybe $4-5k all up)Rather than spend big on a "custom" block and the rest on running it. ($5k++)

Yeah cheapest best option is d16 sohc vtec.Motors are cheap as chips and you could get a conversion pretty cheaply.
Going your route will end up with more issues and less results for your $$$$

thanks for the advice aye
im thinking of scrapping the idea of stroking and looking at a cheap honda motor that will require the least amount of wiring up..
OR.
Rebuilding teh 1500 with new parts and putting a T25 nissan silvia turbo on it.
any other ideas that come up, apart from b16 etc as i dont have that kind of coin

b16 will probably end up cheaper than doing ur 2 above options....
my advice is save up and just buy a better car.....Buy an EG Vti or Si, no power monster but has a bit of zip to it, u will be able to resell it for a decent amount too later, if u build ur current motor wen u go to sell u will get bugger all.....

any of those options is going to cost close to, or possibly more then, a b16 conversion and none of them will be as fun or quick as the b16.

i was thinking the same. Anyone think i could use a Commodore Crank and Pistons to make my carby a V8? I've got about $200 max for the project.

it's been covered many times man go for a search next tmie, YES it can be done for 200bux if you do everything yourself, if you can't have a budget of at least 230....

Buy a VL turbo full hektix bro....LOL fishman...
Anyway - dude you're better of going with a B series or, if you want a cheap turbo motor, buy a D16 and boost it. :)

i'm sure there's workarounds on those laws...
your profile says you have an EF civic, if i'm not mistaken they were 88-91 weren't they? maybe late 87, but not 86... if it is the model i'm thinking (4th gen, same shape as 2nd gen CRX) then the D16A8 came in Some of the jap models anyway, and would provide a CHEAP power boost, and a bit of fun for the meantime. i picked up a complete D16A8 for $250 not long ago. It is EFI, so there'd be hassles involved with that, but considering it was a factory option, i'm sure it's all do-able on a tight budget, and perhaps even within the law.

yeah i no it says thatr, it seems that the ozhonda forum thingy changed it form EW to EF. it has also done that on a couple of my topics aswell, very annoying. my car has EW2 on the VIN plate, so it is an EW.
yeah im jsut gonna stick with this motor, and im saving up for either a EG or a NA S13 silvia, gonna take a while on apprentice wages lol.
thanks for ur help guys

don't get an NA s13. I've seen them get chopped by NA magnas.. lol
You'll still be able to do stuff like weight reductions, wire tucks,a nd deristricing of OEM components. They won't be able to know that stuff :D:D

You have an AH civic with an EW2 engine, if it is an 86 model. You could do a swap to D16 if you really wanted but you would pretty much need a 86-89 model integra half cut, and convert your car to efi. You have to swap and change mounts but it all bolts in and then you have to wire in the efi harness. I would just do a B16 conversion, because they are newer and a better base to work with. If your hearts not in it do as you said and buy an eg when you get the cash. My bro is gonna buy one soon, mainly because there are so many parts available for them, and they have a good chassis as well.

yeah after doing some research i found out that it is a AH civic, thanks for that. looks like the EG will be my new project when i get some cash together. but i will still be keeping the AH for track duties etc, keeping the EW motorand fixing it up a bit. i love the car too much to sell it. thanks for ur help
