Hi guys,

Well after all this time, a workshop in Queensland got that black Type R that was once mine through, and they now have 100 compliance plates for the EP3 Civic Type R. The black one has a new owner, and I picked up a modded white one for myself with Bronze Volk TE37s and a carbon bonnet, among other things.

If your budget can't quite stretch to a new model, you'll be looking at mid-high $20Ks landed and complied for a 2001 model, obviously prices go up from there depending on year and condition.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask. I thought you guys would like to know :)

Cheers
Kristian

Must win the lottery to buy one, good news and a very long wait for Civic lovers.

Some pics of mine...(excuse the interior, the previous owner removed the carpets - now replaced - and all the rest of the goodies and stock parts are scattered inside the car...)

I think mine would work out to around $28K at "normal" prices...

Must be hard to shift with that gear knob :p.

The most important question is, how is it to drive?

Well my car's still in Japan, and the black one got sold in Brisbane before I had a chance to drive it. Workshop owner says it goes very hard - plenty of wheelspin even in the dry, gearknob is actually really good, and Recaros are awesome.

i like this one better than the one thats about to come out. if you compare these civic type r's to the price of the dc5r's they could be better value?

hrm....what mods did u have to do before u can get it on the road?

The mods required for roadworthy are included in the ballpark figures I already gave. They have to be done by a registered workshop (of which there is only one who can currently do the EP3) and will cost around $3500 plus a set of new tyres. After that, the car has to be stock standard for first registration.

would be a pain to get spare parts?

I'm going through similar sorts of discussions with owners of late model Galant VR-4s, which is also new to the list of eligible vehicles, so the response is the same. For parts that aren't shared with local models, and assuming that Honda Australia won't want to know you, any service department of a Honda dealership in NZ can get you the more common parts in 3 days. If the parts are going to come from Japan, they can arrange for them to be sent straight to you.

Sorry to resurrect this old thread, but I thought you might like to know that my EP3 is now finally on the road. The car is manic - 3400rpm at 60km/h in fourth! I use fifth around town without any trouble at all. Having lots of fun with it. Will post some pics of it soon.
