View Full Version : Corner weights for stock cars

More specifically, does anyone know the corner weights for a CRX SiR b16a (EF8)?
Even if they are weights from stock or a lightly modified car, that would give me a good enough figure to work from until I can jump on the corner balancer.
I'm just trying to calculate optimal spring rates...
Cheers

this is what I need to know as well.
but one thing that I am not really sure about is, wont the corner weight be different depending on the situation? (tyre grip, corner speed, road altitude, road condition, and swaybars)
Someone please help us....

go get a proper wheel alignment , and the better places will have 4 corner weight devices ( basically a scale that can rotate left and right , when adjusting the toe) and that will give you the idea.

isn't corner weighting adjusting the preload of the suspension in order to get a more neutrally balanced car when its still??
That way it should be more predictable in corners etc?

Yes , and can only be done with semi-adjustable suspension.
IE coilovers , or properly mating certain rated springs to your cars corner weights.

corner weights is for when ur car is static, corner weights will vairy depending on ride height.
Let us know if u get any results in. been wanting to do the corner weights for a while now.

They adjust ride height on each corner to balance out the sum of the weight of opposing corners. I did it and it was good.

adjusting the preload does change the ride height so we're sorta talkin about the same thing.

Not if you have coils like BC N+. Those have an independently adjustable lower mount that doesn't affect preload. It's best if you have the same preload for each pair of front and rear.

changing pre load will still have an effect on the ride height.
There is a particular order in which you do it but i'm not 100% sure.
i think you set the height using the bottom half of the shock and have the preload set to 0 then you set the cornerweights by altering preload (note: you will notice slight changes in height)
Any of the sydney boys recommend good shops for cnr weighting/wheel alignments??
