Someone else may have had this problem, but i cant find it.
Lately the electric door locking mechanism on my '96 Accord is actuating itself as i drive or even when the car is first stopped.
Sounds like a loose connection somewhere, and the mechanism activates every time the connection moves slightly.I cant get it to happen though by bumping the door and switch area.
I'm guessing its the main switch in the drivers door, but i dont want to start pulling it apart if someone can suggest another cause for the problem.Any suggestions appreciated.

you probly wqont be able to tell unless u remove the door trim if it happens when u bump the door or in that general area it has to be sumthing to do with connections

might unlock itself after u lock it when u get home at night someone comes along bangs ur door it opens lol

Thats the problem, it doesnt happen when i bump the door.It seems to be completely random. It will even happen while the car has been sitting still in the garage for an hour,or it will happen while you are driving along.

replace the drivers actuator switch or compleate actuator for the central locking.

Oh snap. I missed that part. LOL. Anyway, my dad's 94's Accord also has the same problem. Pull the driver's lock knob up halfway when it goes haywire and it helps stop it. Probably caused by corrosion and the actuators don't get a "stop/lock" signal.

Thanks for the replies guys.Aaronng, you were probably used to me posting in the Euro forums. My Euro is still under warranty. This is my wifes car.
Is it possible to do a repair on the actuators(if its corrosion)or are they a sealed unit ?

Shite,i got a quote on a genuine Honda drivers door actuator today.Wait for it........$384.
Honda just dont do themselves any favours do they.(Well mabye they do)What an utter rip off!
No wonder the common reponse from people when you try and talk them into a Honda is usually "oh,but ive heard the parts are really dear" to which i usually reply "nah, theyre not that bad, besides unlike other cars you dont have to replace parts as often".Sounds a bit hollow when you look at the price of this very simple part. Its actually cheaper for me to pull out all the original actuators and put in an after market system !

There was some nylon gear in it that was worn I think. We just left it as it was. Why don't you PM destrukshn for a quote for the door actuator?
