Hello people,

YES i have searched but the problem on the Dseries idle is different to mine and i didn't wanna hijack.

Ok .. Just happened to me recently when i put in a new clutch pretty much. The week before i put in a new radiator. My DA9 has a shitty Idle.

Problem:

Lately been very cold in Melbourne but i don't think thats enough of a reason.
I start engine...will idle @ 2,000. Drive around etc etc stop at light. It will jump up and down 1.5-2-1.5-2 etc etc... Drive for around 5 min...Idle drops again 1-1.5-1-1.5 . It takes like 15-20 min on solid driving for engine to finally Idle normal @ 700ish ?

I asked E-mechanic Bao. She thinks i need to bleed my radiator lines ?

What do other e-mechanics think ?

Thankyou.

Air bubbles in your coolant can cause irregular idle,it cant hurt to simply give the coolant a quick bleed just to eliminate that possibility before looking further

I gave the coolant a bleed couple days ago...the coolant was running out in a steady stream. Still has same problem.

Well now....Intial idle is quite low around 1,000. But once i start driving and come to a complete stop...say at a light...the idle will jump to 2,000rpm and idle up and down 1,500-2000 and i as i said....after about 15 min of spirited driving...it will final come down to normal idle with no issues.

Keep ya posted how i go.

I got a similar problem, my quick fix: sit at lights idle jumping, put in 1st and hold a friction point goes away and stays at 1 for me

IACV. simple. worth checking.
costs nothing to check and can be done within minutes

Cleaned IACV yesterday. Idle is still jumpy if not worse now. Driving around city for 1 hour constantly jumping 1,000-1,500 etc etc.

Anymore ideas ? Like i said...On a cold start in mornings if i don't touch my car it will idle as per normal. But as soon as i start driving down the road and come to a complete stop. Idle will be jumpy.

I second that.
I had a similar problem and found that to be the gremlin.
Also the throttle body gasket may need replacing.

Good Luck.

i had my car like that, after service from honda dealer here in perth.

Services
Cleaned injectors
Cleaned TB

and drive it .. car rev high .. and bouncy. in the cold start. and lasted me for 3 days.. then back to normal ..

i wouldnt know about you, might be a faulty sensors, or a loose wires. try check arround the engine bay.

Hey guys,

Was just outside looking at my car playing with stuff.

When i took out the hose circled in blue in the picture below the idle would be normal around 600rpm. But as soon as i put it back in, the idle would jump to 2000 and down to 1000. Is this my problem here ? If it is. What is wrong and most importantly how do i fix it ?

Cheers.

With what you have just pointed out.
I would have to quote myself and say it is an air leak.
Either from one of the hoses or the gasket needs replacing.
Your situation sounds very similar to what I experienced recently and found both of them to be the cause.

Try with the gasket first. As you can just remove the throttle body and replace the gasket from Honda or either purchase some gasket paper and make your own.

Keep us posted on how you go.

Cheers

Hi I have the same issue with my DA9 . apparently the IACV can completly fail. The EFI guys today disconnected the electrics to the IACV and she runs smooth and regular again. I was quoted $360 from Honda for a new one or $55 for a tested recycled one. The other bug bear is that it could be the Fast Idle thermo value. both ths value and the IACV have wax in them and when they are stuffed they are stuffed. one day they work and next they dont
