Hi all,

Long story shoty - I need a new clutch. Soon.

My car has done 115,000KM's. I have driven 3,000 of those so you can't blame it on me :P

I don't really need a heavy duty clutch as such, I just need something I fit in tommorow. Today. Now. Whatever.

Because my car is stock (and protected by Honda dedicated care using the best oils, parts and lubricants ;)), I really am reluctant to go something mechanically aftermarket.

Having that said, what sort of aftermarket varieties are available? Is it worth buying an aftermarket one as opposed to a Honda one again?

I know life-span is based on how you drive the car; but if anyone has any recommendations or experiences, let me know.

Thanks!

...... well, if its just stock, oem is fine right?

or if you want, get a Spoon or Exedy clutch.

Exedy makes a lot of OEM ones

I think I have enough life in it to get me 10 minutes down the road to work tommorow. It's slipping pretty bad. I also found that ins revving pretty high in 1st. Common trait to clutch that has shat itself?

Exedy/OEM is the same thing just different color pressure plates
For a kit probably over the $500 mark

If you want a cheap fix and not going to be fanging it too much get a cheapie like a Highway clutch probably set you back closer to the $200 mark

You can change just the friction plate, tad cheaper but I strongly recommend fitting a full kit and machining your flywheel...

Where in Melb are you? PM me la~ Might be able to help you out

If the car is revving and its not going any faster then the clutch is rooted for sure

Thanks for the help all!

Drew, I'm in the east down in Ringwood.

I think I just might settle for a Honda one unless someone can change my mind by 7:30AM tommorow. I just need a quick fix really. It's a conveinience factor. I'm pretty sure I can get a Honda one ordered in the morning and get it mid arvo fitted. I'll just have to leave it overnight at work.

Thanks again!

Yeah but an after market one can be fitted for probably less than what a Honda Clutch would cost you

Since you work for Honda I don't know if you would have to pay for labor or what and what kind of discount you get on parts

Not knowing how much an after market one costs I would take a stab at it being around $400 fitted for an after market one

Does it take less time to fit an aftermarket clutch than a standard one?

We book fitting time to around 5 hours for a genuine Civic clutch. Usually the techs might take a little less, hence making it cheaper for me with labour. All up I am looking at around ~$895.

Thanks.

Yeah I would charge about 5 hours myself as well for Joe Blogs...

But really you're looking at about 2-3 hours

ahahahahaha rooted your clutch :p I would also go Exedy but since you work Honda not sure if you can get the clutch cheaper through spares.

I got my Exedy Clutch kit for $135 and it's took me about 4hrs to fit it myself ~ Machine the flywheel took me 1.5hr wait, so it's about 2.5hrs to change a clutch.

4 + 1.5 = 2.5

What kind of math are you using?
