has anyone experienced a DC2R Make a weird hi-pitch wine after 120/130kph... It kind of sounds like the Speedo cable or something.. And sounds as if it is coming from the Gearbox area..

Any help would be great.. because it is driving me CRAZY!

Cheers

it means your speeding hehe.

have you checked your fluid levels??

Could just be the sound of the wind going past the car??

is it whining or whirring? coz i also hear a whirring type noise in my dc2r when i reach about 60km/h and as the speed goes higher, the whirring sound gets higher pitched...

where are you driving 120/130kp/h ? That isnt a legal speed to be taking your car anywhere in QLD.

On the highway, 110KM/H, give or take 10% ;)

Spigot bearing? as the engine revs goes up, so does the input shaft in the gearbox. Is the noise still there if you press the clutch in?

Obviously in NT. You don't seriously think anyone on ozhonda would exceed a speed limit?

Often the cause of such noise is the 1st input bearing of the gearbox.
This is the bearing highest from the oil level & most prone to drying out & failing.
The fix is to overhaul the gearbox.
Before deciding to remove the gearbox, take the car to your mechanic & have it inspected.
It is possible the noise is produced by something else & this may be apparent on visual inspection on a chassis hoist.

Regarding spigot & release bearing.
The spigot bearing does not make any noise when the clutch is enguages as the input shaft moved together with the flywheel.
The relationship is 1:1 as the clutch holds them together.
Spigot bearing noise is most apparent at idle with the clutch depressed.

The release bearing generally makes noise at idle with the clutch enguaged or semi enguaged.
It is usually quiet & even when quite bad when clutch is depressed.
It is uncommon to hear a noisy release bearing at speed.
Hope that helps,
Cheers

one would think on the track you would notbe going at 130kmh for extended periods, which means that it would be unlikely to be annoying
