no open pod
no car that sits below 10cm (from the lowest point)
dB range below 93dB

these are the three main ones for cars with light mods...

Anything you are not too sure about, you might be best shooting off an e-mail to the RTA, or giving them a quick call. They are generally quite helpful in this regard.

I just checked that with the RTA in NSW and they said the car cannot be lowered more than a 1/3 of the original ride height.

yeah, for MOTORCYCLES!

the limit at WSID is 95dB @ 30m - i dont see how the limit for a drag strip could be LOWER than on public roads, LOL!

if you wanna see the NSW NCA (Noise Control Act) details, see here:

http://www.austlii.edu.au/au/legis/nsw/consol_reg/poteocr2000693/sch1.html

it lists the limit as:

Motor car:
Before 1 January 1983 - 96 dB
On or after 1 January 1983 - 90 dB

Motor cycle designed or manufactured for use on a road
On or after 1 March 1984 - 94dB

sorry, motorcycle is only 94dB

BTW - here is the measuring proceedures:

http://www.austlii.edu.au/au/legis/nsw/consol_reg/poteocr2000693/sch2.html

no - the 95dB is measured at 30m

vehicle noise is measured at 0.5m by the methods described by the NCA Act and used by the EPA or authorised testing stations (where did you get yours tested at?)

I got harrassed for the loudness of my Cordia a couple of years back....I got sound tested and it came in at 89 dB ....90 dB is the limit so I was sorta lucky...thing with the dB range is that it is exponential:x

yeah, you really have to be running an open header to breach the 95dB limit...

BTW - the 95dB limit is common across most racing circuts in NSW...

LOL!

yeah, i reckon any aftermarket exhaust of will bring you very close to the legal limit.

when i put the B16A into my Prelude, the reading for the engineers certificate was 88.9dB with stock headers and stock 2in exhaust! (but a free flow muffler though)
