customer at this mechanic i work at got a 5zigen pro racer exhaust system installed.. it was pretty quiet. under 90db..

whereas when a pro racer exhaust was installed on my mates silvia s15 it sounded louder than 98db..

Is your setup NA??

If so, isn't 3 inch a bit big??

Probably best off with a 2.5 or 2.25 inch. Also i've seena company that make headers for the k series which lin up to the standard exhaust system of an integra/civic..

I think it was hasport. i cant remember. but i'll try to find it.

^^ yeah JasonGilholme is right 3" is a bit big you would lose back pressure and high end torque as well if its n/a my mate got a toda and its pretty quiet even after vtec kicks in but its got a great purr 2 it

3 inch isnt too big for a 2.4l :)
Especially if its made to rev....

try magnaflow mufflers, they are gud :) best size for K24 N/A is 2.5" if ur going to boost it then 3"

u will lose power if u plan 2 keep it 3" for ur NA application :)

your saying 3inch is too buig however i didnt mention im doin k24 wiv k20 head, not just standard k series, recommendations from jdmyard and other reliable sources have recommened 3" for peak performance not 2.5"
regardless that wasnt my question, im asking for quiet muffler

last time i heard egk20a it wasnt overly annoying loud
it had a very niceeee tone...

With DC5Rs, when u hold Accelerator on stand still , it revs and holds at 5k rpm

Not sure bout other K series.

well i tell u what mate, Magnaflow mufflers are good but theya re also very ****ing loud. I have a magnaflow muffler sitting in my shed. its the one with two 3" trumpet tips on it (very loud when high rpm but sounds sooooo ****ing good)

Get a mugen twin-loop man. I have one on my dc5r and it is so quiet. It's all engine noise baby!

go to westside mufflers , they did quite a few of custom 3 inch catback for egk20a , egk24a , badhbt , car80y etc

if uw ant quiet, dont get a cannon unless it has a silencer on it which is pointless anyway. Just get a twin-loop if u want noise reduction.

just because YOU haven't heard one, doesn't mean they don't exist.

lol... FIRE UP!

I think it would be fair to say that on average in most cases a cannon is loud.

YES OR NO MATE, YES OR NO.

thats what i thought.

hey in73gl have you sold your b18c?
anyway, yeh id go with twin loop, they are really quiet. i have the s10 xforce and its really quiet not very noticable. alitte louder in cold weather.
or you could put two hotdog resonators on and which ever muffler you like maybe hks style.
maybe two hotdogs and a twinloop. hahahaa

this guy is asking for a quiet 3in exhaust and all you guys are giving him these pissy weak little 2in and a bit suggestions...

he's not asking for what exhaust should he be getting, I am sure he's done enuff research to decide what's the best size for his set up.

fatboyz39
15-06-2007, 01:55 PM
3' is the right size for 2.4L. Don't think there is a pre made exhaust for k swap in dc2. remember to get a good muffler and put 2 good resonator. Don't think it'll be that quiet due the the exhaust size.

IN73GZ

thanx 4 the input xterci n fatboyz, first 2 ppl that have actually payed attention to my initial question

so far looks like having 2 resonator and yeh possibly twinloop exhuast aswell

Wouldn't any muffler that is say JASMA approved and 3 inches in diam going to be sufficient.

i.e. if there is a GTR exhaust that is 3 inch and JASMA approved, would that help.

considering that the GTR is a twin turbo 2.6.

you'll need resonators too though.

I have a Trust Power Extreme II exhaust and it is pretty quiet for both idle and accelerating. Pretty good and solid exhaust..

Is that the same exhaust system that is fitted on car boys original k20a?
The 3 inch system is definetely the way to go

I have a full Trust system and its incredibly quiet between 0-4000rpm... after that it sounds nice and loud.

. there are no company that has released a 3inch exhaust for hybrid swaps
. if you want a straight through system it wont be quiet
. imo it wont be easy to fit 2 resonators in the system, as the collector ends est 5 inches before the shifter box as well as fitting a flexi and a cat, unless running a smaller one on the second bend
. you can get a custom muffler made to your spec but that wont be cheap either

mate you should go xforce twin loop (s10) with an extra resonator
would be quiet as

i don't understand why wouldn't u get a 2 3/4inch exhaust that way you would be able to get a little quieter one but still have performance :) also thats what im getting on my k20 :) so if anyone can recommend a awesome 2 3/4inch that would be awesome.
