I wonder the lack of interest in the car is due to the Top Gear segment where Clarkson panned it in comparison to the EP3R.

Possibly.
Also I notice that there is next to NO advertising for this car. Honda spends big bucks on advertising there other cars, but not the CTR. VW, mazda etc seem to be advertising their performance hatches everywhere.

Allthough people are saying that its selling badly, i think you'll find if you compare the sales figures with previous audm type R's the new FN2R is probably selling more... Also take into account that there are a shit load more hot hatches (competition) on the market these days compared to when the DC2R and DC5R were new.

Just got mine for $38725 on the road.
Matts (standard)
Cargo Net (standard)
Tint
Apparently this month CTR comes with:
24hr roadside assistance
5year extended warranty

I think some wriggle room has come about due to the exchange rate. AUD against the Sterling is alot different to when the CTR was first released last year.

I got quotes from 4 different dealers, the highest was $40 200 drive away.
All with Emblem, mats, and bluetooth.

No i've found that alot of dealers still have 07 built vehicles in the showroom, most with less then 100kms on the clock. These seem to be the ones going dirt cheap. The last thing a dealer wants is to have last years stock in the yard when its half way through the following year...
When asking for drive away quotes on current year stock that has to be delivered in the best I could do was $42 900 drive away...

I got mine yesterday. Its a December build but Jan 08 compliance and its the latest version as the steering wheel adjustment is not on the left hand side like the 07 model.. its at the base of the column in the middle.

Its has 12km on the clock and just got registered this week so hardly a demo

And a slight correction... i got it for 38800 Drive away.

Mine was a "demo" as stated by the dealer, but it only had 85kms on it before i drove it. Was never registered.... Used the trader plates for test drive. Dealer said it arrived with 20kms and 3 people test drove it before me.

some has registerd, some not
it still consider demo though, if it has been registered
most dealer say its demo car, because they never stock the car like normal civic, accord crv etc
they just sell that available of their car yard

its the same when you thinking to buy new s2000 to honda dealer, they still sellling new s2000 now and they usuallly never have the stock on site, if they have, thats their demo car

Dealers screw you around heaps. HEAPS. I got a new car (not demo/showroom/etc) for 43 flat on road with a truck load of extras - both skirts, stickers, 2 sets of mats, ipod adapter and ambient lights and more. I posted my deal somewhere on here I think.

Mind you, you won't get this deal by just asking for it. A bunch of dealers laughed me out of the showroom before I made the deal with the dealer who wanted to make the sale. Some even told me getting an 08 build so early in the year was impossible!

My car was purchased about two months ago (delivered last month) and is a MY08, built 08 and complianced 08.

And the 38k/free 5yr warranty/mats price is on the Honda website. It only applies to built 07 cars, allbethey MY08.

Not a very good deal in my opinion, as the cost of the mats and the extra warranty (Approximately $795+$160 RRP) will not cover the loss when selling the car with an extra year on it. And besides, if purchased with the vehicle, ie: as part of the deal, this stuff is closer to worthless.

Its not f%#king rocket science. And i'm not that stupid. A simple drive past any dealership will tell you that some of the cars in the yard are registered, and some aren't.

Luggage Tray
MY08 Floor Carpets (x2 Sets)
Accent Lighting
iPod Adapter
Type R Emblems Pack
Front Skirt (Splitter) - original skirt retained
Rear Skirt (Rear Diffuser) - original skirt retained
Door Trims
Mud Flaps (Front and Back)

and..

Extra rear CIVIC badge (new)
Extra rear TYPE-R badge (new)
Extra front RED H badge (new)
Free oil change (including new filter) at 1000/1500km service
Courtesy car to be provided free of charge on all service/warranty checks/fixes
Full Tank of 98 RON fuel (BP Ultimate)

they are arrogant in there...
we ended up buyin my CTR from central coast honda they were awesome,
they remembered my name when i went back 3 months later for my 1000k serivce that includes the fiance lady...
just all the little things up there were so much better give it a try...
got mine up there jan 08 model for 40,500
including
floor mats
emblem set ( had to fit myself )
Paint protection, Rust Detecter, Seat and Trim Protection
when i picked the car up also got

Well pretty much walked in there and said dont wanna pay more then 40g and this is what i want...

Then they came up with 41,700 and just said throw in
floor mats and emblem set plus all the protection stuff for 40,500
and he spoke to his boss and it was done...
took about 3hours...

compared to hornsby who wouldnt budge off 42 something for a 07 built...

but i know others who have bought from hornsby but just my personal experiences have been pretty bad there...
