View Full Version : Introduction or Good bye??
Sup guys.
Ive never been able to introduce myself because ozhonda wont let me create an account so i have been using my friend 'jwai's' account for a while now.
Anyways...ive been a proud owner of a dc4 since my 16th birthday in 2005. This being my pride and joy with heaaaaps of DIYs down the drain...literally.
So i bought the car bone stock...since then...colour coded mouldings, side skirts and bumper...bought rims...alpine stereo system...dc5 seat swap...blue interior lighting...had cannon installed with 2.25" piping from headers...CAI...blacked out tailights...lowered...etc
This was my car yesterday at 5pm:

Why goodbye? if you havnt heard...newcastle has been/still is victim to a 'natural disaster' last night...a flood and harsh wind conditions....i got stuck within it...
literaly 10m from high ground...water had got to the engine...it turned off and it was no longer....had to jump out the window and swim about 20m to get to safety...i could only salvage...the pants i was wearing...my bonds tshirt....my uni book...my phone and wallet...
This was as good as i could get from last night...sorry bout the quality:

The writing says: the roof of my car....just floating around
So basically...i say hi guys...i love cars...but for now...i guesss i have to wait and see the result...i'll keep it updated...hopefully the teg survived...i was upset...but all i can do is laugh..

all your electrics are probably rooted.
or will be sooner or later.
lol.
big job to fix, with i reckon all the eletrics ****ed up, and what not, lol.
i reckon, it was left there long enough for water to get into the motor.
NICE!
lol
good luck with it all, hope things turn out well for ya!

sorry to hear that man, like other people said , you definately should start looking for a new car, there is no point to keep that, or maybe time for a hybrid , the body should still be ok, gl man
Thanx for all the words guys...
however...despite the thousands of ppl that have sed:
you car is ****ed ...lol...hah...ha...
me and my dad have taken the challenge to fix it. this morning we have spent hours on end, ripping apart the interior...alls going well so far....im hoping that eventually...wen the interiors back together...and we start working on the engine...that it wont work and they say they're guna buy me a new engine or car...definately staying with honda but!
unfortunately...insurance wont pay cuz i was 'only in the progress of paying off for comp insurance' as the GIO ppl say...
so far...money has not been an issue...its just been time consuming and causing alot of frustration....
heres some pics...

i think you need to clarify what your talking about with reference to the insurance. If you were in the process of paying off your insurance, and this payment schedule was WITH KNOWLEDGE AND APPROVAL OF THE INSURER, then all you will need to do is pay it and they will allow you to claim.
If you were fart arsing around and just didnt pay it that aint the insurers fault.
nonetheless, sorry about your loss man, hope you get her looking the way it was
yea had some conflict with that insurance issue...the issue was the company trying to make excuses to compensate for their losses/future loss.
they did it to my friend as well...his in the same situation as me...
but yea...not to worry...im over that now...just keen on fixing up the aesthetics atm.

also many insurers do not cover for flood damage.
my teg only just made it through the flood, i had water over my bonnet when a bus went past and sent a giant bow wave hurling around.
commodores floating away. forresters stuck. my da9...unbeatable. i love my car.

now that you have a stripped interiour why dont u leave it stripped. light weight ftw!! hehe.
hahaha take her to the drag strip...
i wonder how it would go.lol.
how did your da9 make it....water came through my dc4 like i was some sort of drain...hmmm interesting...
ah well...

absolutely no idea mate...i have some wet carpet in the passenger footwell but other than that i am pretty ok.
i was fortunate that traffic was moving at an ok pace so i wasnt stopped in the water - i have no doubt that if i had stopped moving it wouldve all been over.
im gonna hire a steam cleaner in a week or so to get the smell out i reckon. if you need someone to give you a hand with your interior shoot me a pm
hey man,
thats shit how she got caught, you went to my school last year, i always like the look of your car.
Hopefully u can get her all up and running again and this weather will piss off!

So sorry to hear your story...
just wondering... what does GIO mean by - 'in the progress of paying off for comp insurance'? U r paying by the month?
If you have paid any premium (even as instalments) you should be able to appeal for the cover.
Wish u good luck!

WOW ...
engine will not survive this!... time for engine swaps and kick of all the interriors !!!..
try to take out the dash as well :p
another update...
so last night .. we spent about 3 hours with the air compressor...we used it to clear out any remaining water within the electrical connectors...the main job last night was on the piston sockets...we put the air compressor down there and blew out a tonne of water lol...
this morning .. we went through the same drill...again working on the connectors...
by this time...the battery was fully charged so it was time to test the electronics!!...the battery is going in right this minute!!....
WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO....dash lights...head lights.....how the f***? i dont know..lol..
that annoying warning beep that sounds when the door is still open never sounded so good lol.
so now its midday....we have changed the oil and replaced the oil filter...unfortunately, the cai was wrecked so i had to replace it with the stock intake system. dam!!...
its time to give her a whirl....
IT CRANKED!!!!! fully sick! and then it just literally threw up hahaha. my car just spurted out about 3L of water from the exhaust which really looked funny...hmmm interesting...
so atm, my electronics are surprisingly working....the engine, even more surprisingly, is cranking....
its kool cuz it sounds like some muscle car atm...hahah
thanx again for the words...i'll keep it updated...

I am surprised that you would choose to try and fix the car up. Besides the water damage to the motor, the potential for rust to appear would really turn me off. Goodluck anyway and look forward to seeing your progress.

lol im not kidding about the insurance!
i drove through this too. i have tow ropes in my car in case of emergency and if i had been stuck i wouldve been tying my car to the nearest tree/telegraph pole if i couldnt stay in it.
hahaha thats halarious!!..
i would have done that if i had the equipment....i was prepared to rip out my headunit...sub and amp but was too scared of geting zapped hahaha.
but this is the latest...
car is still sounding like a lawn mower however it cuts out or dosnt turn over sometimes...
amp and head unit are no longer of use...it took a bloody good cd as well...sub however is still working
turn signals for some reason arnt working...
no rust as of yet...i guess im putting the effort into reviving the teg because its a mad car...
but in saying that....on the down low....i hope the engine dies so i can buy a better motor..lol

heya guys.
well after a grueling few days....i have some good news!
the car still moves...lol...good' ol honda! :)
although it now sounds quite awful lol...though i rekon its guna get better wen the water has completely dried out of the engine.
my central locking is reked...along with my head unit and amp...im going to buy a new head unit tomoro!
my cup holder dosnt work....is there a light that lights up around the cigarette lighter?...
also...my dash bulbs have died so i need new bulbs...(any suggestions as to whether i should go white or amber??????)
a bulb has also died in my c.control.
there are a couple of items i'll need but ill post a WTB thread abit later.
Peace!

the car still dosnt turn over sometimes or dosnt krank but you'll be happy to know that the car is slowly and steadily back on the road....i also got the latest JVC headunit which is awsome...
ive lost heaps of power but i believe thats because i still have water in the fuel tank mixed with some fuel...and plus i now have the stock intake back in....im just runnin the teg hard round the block to empty the fuel so i can fill her up with premium to give it a clean...hopefully that helps..
i'll keep it updated

do not run your car like that.
there is a drain plug on your tank.
drain it all.
then, fill it back up

Thanx for that...
i was close to empty but it helped....turns out there was a tiny bit of water in there....
let the car roll down to the servo today and filled her up with premium.
proper test drive tomoro as im going back to work for the first time since the flood lol. i'll be sooo cut if it decides to flood tomoro.

worst post EVAAAAAAAAA.
i come from a city that gets flooded easily. i think yourfather posted some picts before about the floods.
lots of cars break down, after the floods. and what i know is they usually rebuilt the engine after the water lever back to normal. ie, no more heavy rain or bad forecast. or as soon as the car could be moved and booked to mechanic.
price of car went down very low after it. Rust will start appears in 1 - 1 1/2 years after.
well.. just pointing out ;)
