Hi guys,
I have just registeted as a member on this fourm. Didnt know there was a aust forum for the euro. I was a memeber of all the international TSX forums.

Well anyway im thinking of lowering my euro but have a couple of questions which i cant find the answer to.
I want to lower my car simply for the looks.Want to lower it approx 4cm all round. Im not to worried about handling my main concern is keeping as much comfort as possible.
So i was thinking of going with the Tein Basics coilovers. Is there anywhere in aust that you can get these or do you need to import them.
How long are the coilovers expected to last?

Also does anyone drive their euro on reset springs. (Their stock euro springs reset not aftermarket springs)
Not cut ones, but when you get them professionally reset by a qualified suspension centre with the right equipment.
How is the ride quality/comfort on reset springs?

Im asking this as i called the "suspension centre" in sunshine ( vic ppl mite know this place) a well know suspension centre were heaps of ppl get there cars lowered. The manager there said that resetting my stock euro springs will be much better ride quality/comfort then getting aftermarket springs such as king springs.
Is this true?

Any feedback will be appreciated.
Thanks
Pauly.

Hi there.....
Welcome aboard, there are a lot of topics on here about coilovers, and what you want really depends on your budget. If your car is under warranty, putting coilovers on it will void that warranty. If you're just after lowering it 4cm, then a spring might be just what you mean.

The other thing you might want to do is have a look through a few of the coilover threads.

I've never been over to Sunshine, but lowering your car for aesthetics can be done a variety of ways, and you just need to figure out what you need.

Tein Basic are not available in Australia... They are for America only. You will have to get them here yourself.

Cheers,

Lucas

but if i lower 4cm with springs, will i need to get shocks, as wont the stock ones go after a couple of months.

I don't know, you did not ask that question in your first post.

What the guy suggested to you was super-heating your springs.

This explains the process quite well

http://autospeed.drive.com.au/cms/article.html?&A=3082

I would say that 4cm would mean your shocks would wear out quickly... But if you're adjusting your ride height, rather than do it cheaply, do it safely and right the first time.

You can get your shocks shortened to help cope with the lower springs

Well, there's Tein CS (Comfort Sport?), but I'm not sure if they can lower bout 4cm. Google it for more info :)
There's a thread here that mention Tein CS as well.

SS are street focused.

They are comfy. At the softest damper setting, they feel like stock on rough road. It's only when you come to sharp dips and bumps that they feel harder than stock.

From what i understand SSs on the lowest setting ride almost like stock. They have 16 settings i think.:)

It's just 16 steps from softest to hardest damper bound (SS cannot adjust for rebound).

It's relative, since step #8 on the SS is still softer than the softest setting (#1) on the Flex. :)

I must have gotten the SS mixed up with the Flex. What have you got Aaron?

ss is good but cost is not good. My budget aim more at $800-$1-000

I've got the Flex. It also has 16 levels of adjustment. But that just means 16 steps between Y and Z. In the case of the SS, it's 16 levels between V and W. So following the order of the alphabet, the softest setting on the Flex still has a higher bound and rebound rate than the hardest setting on the SS.

I suggest you wait then as you would be lucky to get a decent set of second hand shocks for that...$1k + for Koni yellows new but they have damping adjustment too. Just that lowering springs are extra on top of that!

Patience.........do it right the first time....

....after all, what's the car worth.........

Get the Honda A-Spec kit ordered from the USA. But it only drops 3cm and you can't adjust. But the ride is very good as is factory quality.

I was told A Spec only drops 2cm. I have got quoted $1500 for Tein SS not installed

The paperwork I have shows 3cm but my kit was the Sports Suspension kit sold in the UK/Europe so it is probably different.

Why don't you order the tein basics from the USA? They are not expensive and will do the job and not be uncomfortable.

From what I've read A-Spec is a very good setup. Stock feeling but with better performance. The drop is approximately 2.5cm which imo is perfect.

I am pretty sure a couple of people here - Euroaccord13 and others have ordered from www.tsxparts.com (http://www.tsxparts.com) before. They have the Tein Basic for $712USD. Ask them about shipping becuase coils would weigh about 20kg total. If they can ship by sea it will not be too bad but air will be expensive.

thanks yfin ill get on it. ill ask for some quotes for shipping, mite send a pm to Euroaccord13 to see how he did it.

Also am i right by saying that you have to get wheel aligment each time you adjust your car height?
If so, What happens if i only want to change the height slightly say .5cm. will such little height changes affect wheel aligment?

Tein Basics for 712 USD are in the same price range as Tein Super Street in Japan.

Shipping from japan is between 3-500 dollars

Remember the yen is WEAK at the moment, so we're getting a good deal.

Yeah you have to get a wheel alignment, I really need to get mine done.

I think im going to stop screwing around and get the Tein SS from thr vendor here before the dollar goes back up. Shoould be pretty sweet.

I take it fromt he above that im better off using the stock pillow mounts over the extra $ ones as they are too harsh?

They are not too harsh. They just introduce more suspension noise. But you get better steering response because of that. It's the equivalent of solid engine mounts but for suspension.

The construction of the D2 is pretty cheap compared to the SS (at least the ones for the CL9)

I didn't go the pillow mounts and my euro is still by far the most responsive car I have ever driven, but then I don't track it either.

i sent mine by AIR mail express which is within 3 business days, and it only took 2 days to get to my house. It costed $286AUD. But if u choose not to sent by air or express i m sure it is much cheaper.

It was just SpeedPost EMS which you can get through HongKong Post

870 + 286 is still only about $1150 which is a good 200 bux less than the best quote i've had.

is it taboo to ask who ur getting it off and how much suntzu?
