goodday everyone.

i got some question for my civic EK1. i got a quote for Koni sport shock(damper adjustable) with my own H-R spring for 1300 fitted and wheel aligment.

also, i got a quote for tein super street for 1450 plus fitting and wheel aligment(around 200) and D2 suspension 1450 fitted plus 80 for wheel alignment. if you were me, which one do you choose and why?

woah 1300 with H&R springs, thats for the koni AND the springs or just the koni and isntallation? i got my koni + eibach setup for 1200-1300 so thats the konis and the springs plus installation. i know lots of people are skeptical about the d2 but apparently it was just one shipment that had a lot of Fcked parts, i've sat in a couple of friends cars with d2 and its pretty damn good hes had it for a year or so with no problems, i know evrey1 will tell u to steer clear but they're not all that bad, but if u can get tein ss for that price lol i'ld say take that over the d2 where u getting tein ss for that price installed anyway?
ohh my bad + 200 for installation lol.

out of those options Tein SS gets my vote.

The Konis + Installation definately seems to be over the top - that setup shouldn't cost more than $1600 with the H&R coils installed.

ahhha here comes that d2 argument again, anyway i can stand by what was said earlier, there was one crap shipment and after that its been fixed, been through this with the local distributor, the new ones are PERFECTLY FINE, they aren't the stiffest coilovers in the world no doubt but for the price you pay around 1500 fitted, its great for street and all. but if you could afford something more luxurious then ahha by all means do so. i also know quite a few people running on these for more than a year now with no problems...

D2s are something u use for a few years and dont bother rebuilding. cos after a few years, u get a real job, make some real bucks and dont even bother with tein but go all the way to an S2K which is great stock.

pazzman sounds like he's never tried d2s and is just saying they are crap cos he hears and read about them being crap.

might as well contribute my thoughts.

first of all, wats ur specific needs? lowering for handling? looks? how low u'd wanna go?

if slamming ur car is priority (like myself, so im very aware of suspension max drop for different brands). here's somthing for u to think of. and this is for EK --> Tein ss wont slammed ur car, lowest settings will leave u 1-2 fingers from ur wheels to guards. koni yellows (wth kings super low) on lowest perch will tuck tires. D2 will have ur guards just on tyres on the lowest setting.

D2's have had too many mix opinions from users, some say they're good some say there're not because there have been quite a few cases of them leaking, whereas u'd tend to hear less of this issue from Tein's and koni. but this doesnt mean that tein's and koni wont leak. any coilovers/suspensions will blow or have their life expectency shorten if u dun treat them sensibly wth care. personally never owned D2', but have been in many, played and adjusted a few on different rides. nothing wrong wth them, they're ok. but the ride will b rather bouncy.

not really possible
you gotta choose 2 outta three

looks comfort handling

comfort + handling = shit looks
looks + comfort = shit handling
looks + handling = shit comfort

Ive got d2's and their not bad for their price, i got mine used and it doesn't have any problems at all, but they can be bouncy, i don't know if thats from being stiff or being too low but im not after a track warrior orientated setup, more of a fun street car with a uni student budget and a daily driver outlook, plus i like my car to be low so d2's don't have a problem with doing so.

Many people just say d2's are crap from internet stories but with no real personal experience, it doesn't take much effort for anyone to sit back and make a bs story about how crap d2's are or any other brands. Also it seems like more and more people are just buying parts for that "JDM parts" status, but you gotta be realistic as to think about whether purchasing an expensive coilover that is only used on the street as "worth it" or not, because alot of people will always tell you to buy the high end stuff, when you'll never even put it to its 100% use or intended purpose. Thats my opinion. Guess its all down to how much money you have and whats your goals.

Koni has made a full coilover kit for quite some time, but for some reason people tend only to go for the shocks and them match them with another brands springs. I think that this is in part due to poor marketing and the fact that most people arnt aware that they offer the full kit.

The full coilover kit that I experienced (on an em1) was excellent.
