I rang up a guy advertising a:

95 Prelude DOHC auto "VTIR".
I thought, the VTIR only came out in a manual ?

He said it has the same engine, but different alloys and transmission to the VTIR's...

So, being a DOHC... it must mean, that it's a SI right ?

There's no such thing as an auto VTR.

Meh, anyway.
Just double checking, can someone confirm ?

just do your homework on redbook plz

ask him for a chassis code and that will give you an idea of what style of vehicle it is.

There are no Auto 1995 Honda Prelude "VTI's" or "VTIR's" listed on redbook, at all.
The only auto's listed are S and SI.
This car has a DOHC VTEC motor, with an auto transmission.

Any number of the above smartarses want to explain that one ?

I'll jump in to explain that there was NEVER a VTI Prelude...

so you can scrap that one off the list.

I'll let the other 'smartasses' have abit more fun with this thread though.

I've seen the motor, written on its DOHC VTEC
I've also seen the transmission, it's auto.

look there........does that prove it for you???

It's a 95, the shape before.

4th gen vtir's are jdm..

there are also auto civic "vtir's" (known as SiR) and auto integra "vtir's" (also known as SiR)

I figured it mustn't of been Australian Imported.
How much would the insurance be on it O.o

tRipitaka
14-06-2007, 03:13 PM
best bet is to call up and get some quotes.. as it'll be different for each situation.. i.e. age, accident history, insurance company

edit:
and guys, ease up on the flaming..
people complain that ozhonda is dying.. i'm sure flaming ain't helping..
so if you want to flame, atleast include some sort of advice or technical information with it

could be si-vtec... like mine. there's definitely auto h22a's... but yeh, imports. if its an si-vtec, then he's lying about the year, coz it'd have to be before 95

simple...there were no aussie delivered vtir autos.
any auto vtir you see in australia is a jdm import.

thats why it isnt listed on redbook.

Insurance wise may be difficult. From past experience I looked at buying a JDM Prelude DOHC VTEC Si Auto about three years ago, the previous owner had actually worked in Japan and transported the car back to Australia when he returned to live here. His insurance company insured it as an AUDM manual, but all insurance companies I rang to obtain quotes from wouldn't touch it.

The car itself, from memory the JDM spec is slightly different from the AUDM spec, slightly more power, climate control, rear wiper delete and a few other things. Sorry that I can't remember or may even be wrong on what I have quoted, it was over three years ago...
