was in my mate's civic the other night when it rained... when the water sprayed to the bottom of the car and hits the pipe, it rattles like mad.. sounds like its hitting against the chassis.. can feel it to inside the car that something vibrates.

what do you think causes it? it never happened in the dry... only on wet roads:confused: The piping is catback 2.25" mandrel bent...

very odd mate, since the rain has he had a chance to drive it when there is no water on the roads? and is it still happening?

I'll take a stab in the dark and just suggest maybe that the sound you're hearing is the water up against your inner guards or spash guards

i dont see how water on the road could make any other noise

no no.. it is the exhaust pipe, we can feel the rattle from inside the car.. and sometime it gets very rough.. only happens when there's water tho, high speed driving on the highway is fine, but if we go through puddles on normal street this happens..

I'm gonna guess that the exhaust mount rubber may be worn. Take it to a muffler shop n get them to check the rubber.

if so, how come it only happens if water gets to the pipe?

you might need a new cat. the inside components of the cat may be broken, and it would have a rattling sound from the exhaust.
its happend before but i dont think it would be enough to vibrate the inside of the car. i suggest you get it to an exhaust shop.
