Ok guys up to my next service and in this one i need new

Spark plugs - Not sure on the oem ones, dont know if they are the best for it or if there are better ones which arent too high cost

Engine oil and filter (standard service lol) - going for fully synthetic instead of mineral; probably castrol edge sport 5-30 or something else i stumble upon. Using Honda filters

Air filter - Honda

Gearbox oil - going for redline?

Thats all the mandatory changes from memory.

Looking for recommendations on consumables and parts.
Thanks.

instead of using the oem air filter
why not buy a after market one so u dont have to get a new one all the time
also gives u better flow with a after market one
just use your oem plugs that honda recommend
fuel filter?

How many km and still in warranty?

I have a handful of OEM oil filters if you need one, def. recommend oem filter over aftermarket

Honda Manual Transmission Fluid is recommended. SYNTHETIC BLEND 10W-40 or PENNZOIL 10W-30 engine oil may be used temporarily.

if your getting a new air filter shortly (within the next few thousand k's) tell them to leave the air filter that is in there... save yourself a few bucks.

im using motul 8100 5w40. nice and smooth and doesnt burn. i think this oil is recommended to change every 5000km though.
honda oil filter is what i used.

spark plugs should have been changed at 100k service. but yeah oem denso or ngk.

are you getting serviced at honda?

How many kms does your DC5R have? Are your stock plugs platinum or iridium?

Through using Castol Edge 5w-30, 0w-40 and Motul 8100 5w-40, the best I found was the Motul 8100.

Gearbox oil - going for redline?
Are you getting any synchro grinding? If not, stick with Honda MTF.

Just use oem plug is fine.....they are good enough....I use oem even I track my car....

Engine oil is either Motul 4100 turbolite, 8100 Xcess, or 300V Chorno...thats recommand for type R, 4100 is about $50, 8100 is $70 and 300V is $90 but 4liter only...you need to buy additional 20lt bottle....I use 8100 Xcess for my daily....and 300V for track...

Air filter...If you plan to change ur air filter then leave what you have...they will last....dun waste extra $$ for that....except urs is really really dirty...

Gear oil.....If you dun track ur then stay with oem......they are good enough even track.....redline is good too but for street driving its such a waste.....

if you doing ur 120000 service you better check ur service book.....coz its a major service.....cost you about $700 in honda......hope that helps...

Thanks for all of the info guys!

Aaronng, i am not sure of my plugs as i dont know what the oem ones are! People tell me to stick with the oem ones so i might as well, and no im not getting it done at honda, costs too much for what i get and they wont use the stuff i want (oils). Motul oil from my local repco/autobarn?
Also im not getting synchro grinding so i might as well stick with the oem stuff.

OEM Honda plugs are either NGK or Denso. Honda doens't make their own spark plugs.
According to NGK, your stock plugs have the part number IFR7G-11KS. Your stock plugs should be either NGK or Denso, so just pull one out to check the part number and then go to the shops to buy them.

Motul is sold at Autobarn, and some Repcos. I find Autobarn cheaper at $65 for 5L of 8100 5w-40, which is their regular retail price.

The only Mobil1 suitable for Hondas is the 10w-30 which comes in a gold bottle. That costs close to $80. Do you need an oil like that? If you were bringing your car on the track, sure. But if you were keeping it on the street, Motul 8100 is good enough. Even $47 Castrol Edge 5w-30 is good enough. If you were changing your engine oil every 5000km, then $30 honda FEO would be good enough as well.

bringing this back up!

I bought Motul 10-40 yesterday and a ryco filter as i was at autobarn!

ive done 80,000kms should i change my fuel filter too? cant see it being changed by previous owner? and do i need to go honda to get one? know anywhere else in syd? how much do they usually cost?

PS dc5R fuel filter located under the rear seat? i wont need to open fuel tank right??? sorry habnt done it before

fuel filter change at 40,000km and 80,000km service for a dc5r.

cost about 120 bucks for the unit from honda.

yes the fuel filter is under the rear seat in the fuel tank. its not hard to do if you have the right tools especially to get that black ring off the top of the fuel filter. that thing is a bitch to unscrew.

- remove rear seats
- unscrew the 4 screws on the lid and remove the lid

now under this lid....

- open the fuel filler cap
- unplug electrically plug from fuel filter
- unplug the fuel line from fuel filter
- remove black ring
- pull out the fuel filter (you gotta angle it coz its connected to the floater)
- replacement fuel filter with new to the floater
- reverse steps

a lot of people on on clubrsx recommend mobil 1 and there isn't as much talk about motul. is that just because mobil 1 is a lot cheaper there compared to motul?

if the type r's service manual is the same as the base model's service manual, then there is a major service every 40,000kms, they clean out the valves and do a bunch of other things like fuel filter as well...
