hey all, im fairly new and currently in the process of buying a first car,
to this which happens to be a carby..
which brings me to the question,

i have done a search, but im still not too familiar with how carby's run compared to an efi motor, hence why this is in the noobsection..lol

so i was just wondering is there anything i should be looking out for,
how they run?
maintenance costs?
repair prices on items?
common problems with carby engines?
things i should be aware of, etc?

i was hoping that maybe someone would be able to shed light on this issue,
any help on this would be very much appreciated..:D
btw, the car is an eg breeze

thank you in advance.

Well, A breeze is VERY slow, maybe spend abit more and get a GL which had twin carbs and was 1.5L and only had 4kw less than efi.

I used to have a 91 civic (the old crx shape) which had twin carbs, it went alright, in 1 yr i didnt even touch the engine, not even to change the oil and it still went fine. (i bought it for $500 and it had 320,000ks on it, thats why i no take care)

They dont use much petrol. If ur carbie need to be rebuilt, its will cost abit as not many ppl can/know how to anymore. Unless you find one at a wreckers.

Thats about it i think

Like aimre said. The rebuild kits for the carbs are quite pricey (not that you're likely to need one). Especially the single carb on the breeze (for what it is). So I would also try and at least get a gl of some sort with the twin carbs.

If you're careful you should be able to rebuild them yourself. It's basically just taking them apart and putting them back together with new seals. There are plenty of carb specialists around though that would be able to do it as well.

There isn't really any special maintenance to do. I'd just keep them clean inside and out to make sure everything is moving fine.
