I'd like to know this also. I'm guessing it can be done, but the wiring would be a bitch.

Ive got a Type R DC2 cluster in my '91 gen 2(with the round cluster hood cover),dunno whether it will fit if u got the square hood cover.Fits really well, you have to customise the side brackets a bit,but not hard with a pair of tin snips & a bit of creative bending or you could just jam the cluster in with bits of foam to hold it in place nice & tight.

Wiring wasnt hard, you just need to get the plugs to go with the cluster with a little bit of wiring hanging off them,so u can cut & join the original wires on.I could give you the wiring instructions if u want.Ive also got a JDM DC2 VTiR cluster for sale if u want it,just no plugs to go with it,u would have to find someone with a DC2 dash harness spare.

I forgot to mention one other thing the DC2 cluster has an electronic speedo,so you would have to replace the cable VSS in your g/box with an electronic one.I dont know whether you can get an electronic VSS for a D series box, maybe off an EG or something, cos i got a B series g/box already.

I have put a speedo drive from a D15B7 ( eg gli ) into a B series gear box and it worked fine.
awsome work btw, looks really nice.

might kinda forget u're in an EF looking at tat cluster while driving hehe.
question: when doing cluster swap. are u able to adjust odo kms reading to the actualy km travelled? or watever milage shows in the cluster will b plugged in as is?

The wiring below is based on looking at the cluster from the rear & the plug on the left being the A plug, the plug on the right being the B plug for both clusters.
The numbers A1 to A16,etc reading from left to right as demonstrated in the pic below, again for both clusters. The pic being of the DC2 cluster.
NOTE:Label the CRX wires before u cut the plugs off,as there are some wires that have the same colours.

DC2 Plug Wires > CRX Plug Wires
A1 red/blue > - seat belt light
A2 lt blue/red > - door open light(can be hooked up by adding wire joining to passenger door switch wire near fuse box)
A3 yel/white > A6 yel/white fuel gauge
A4 blue/white > - low fuel light
A5 -
A6 orange > A2 yel/red speedo (join new wire from VSS onto this join as well)
A7 green > A4 yel/red hatch open light
A8 blue/red > - ABS light
A9 black > B4 red dash lights (-)
A10 red/black > B5 red/black dash lights (+)
A11 black/yel > B10 black/yel battery light (+)
A12 -
A13 green/blue > B1 green/blue left indicator
A14 green/yel > A8 green/yel right indicator
A15 red/green > B2 red/blue high beam
A16 green/red > B7 green/red brake warning light
B1 -
B2 -
B3 -
B4 yel > A7 yel ignition power
B5 -
B6 black > A1 black ground
B7 yel/green > B3 yel/green temperature gauge
B8 -
B9 white/blue > B11 white/blue battery light (-)
B10 red > - cat convertor light (JDM only)
B11 yel/red > B8 yel/red oil light
B12 green/orange > B9 green/orange check engine light
B13 blue > B12 blue tacho
For new VSS wiring,
there are 3 wires
black/yellow > join to thin black/yellow wire at strut tower plugs in engine bay
black > join to grounding point on thermostat cover on engine
orange > join & feed thru firewall thru where u took the old speedo cable out of & join to cluster wiring as detailed above.
If any more info required for the installation, reply to this thread.
